Informative discussion. Not entirely clear outcome due to the varying contexts within which music is considered, but the general precautionary approach against music which promotes behaviour against one's personal dignity is helpful and makes sense. The rulings of scholars seem to be equally diverse, so the emphasis seems again to be on practicing personal responsibility, common sense and considering intent. For example, a Muslim musician who has acquired a skill in playing an instrument may never have in mind any other intention, thank to improve their art as a painter or sculptor may do for their own art form. It would also be useful to recognise that the predominant practice and consumption of music does not involve adverse behaviours (largely driven by mass commercial marketing tools), but can give deep sense of happiness and insights into one's personal life, important relationships or life events. This discussion seems to give an overall bias against music, but it is important to clarify and emphasise the points about those actions which are against the teaching or spirit of the traditions of Ahlulbayt, so that conversely, much material may be unproblematic. It seems, that using this approach, music is by no means always objectionable and to recognise its powerful potential benefits, not linked to harmful intentions, like any other actions.

Why is there so much discrepancy in the messaging about Music. Some say Music is not Haram at all, it’s only songs that are indecent accompanied by Music which is Haram. Other say some instrument are Haram all the time, some say no those instruments are only Haram when accompanied by Haram songs. Which one is it ? We are raising kids in the west and need to give clear messaging to them and ourselves. Some say taking band is permissible while others say it’s not . And when I’m saying “some people say”, they are trying to push forward Ayt.Sistanis ruling. So it’s variance in messaging even thou it represents one Marja. (Disclaimer please check with your marja everything I said above).

A.S I've been confused over this topic for a while and I had a question 1.) Music empowers people why is it haram? (example going to the gym, running etc) If you know anything please answer thank you and may Allah bless you
@brokenhero68282 жыл бұрын
Some scholars do warn against music. However that is simply a guess and not clear. There is 0 clear evidence of Music being Haram. As for going to the Gym, that would be more Quranically Haram as that is intermixing openly in a rather perverse environment where the body is in constant motion and stretching. I would be focused on avoiding the gym. In terms of music, good and clean music is Halal. But inappropriate music and messages are Haram. As for profanity, that depends on your view of it, but it cannot be vulgar talking about body parts or lust, drugs or temptation or drinking etc. All entertainment can be Haram or Halal. If music was truly Haram, 99% of Muslims listen to it, don’t you think it would have had a massive section or mention in the Quran? But it doesn’t. Because it isn’t. However for majority of humanity Music is causing harm. Look how dirtier and dirtier the songs are getting and how accustomed people are getting to vulgarity. Stay away from the music that takes you away from faith and cleanliness. And listen to music that is pure and good. If your heart gets trained more you can even listen to songs that have some questionable occasional messages but your mind will filter them out and take the good from it. It’s safe to say Majority of music today is Haram. But there are a ton of good songs out there that are clean and good. Same thing applies with Television. You could watch inappropriate shows and horror movies and reality shows that involve partying, drinking and lust. Or you can watch good and clean cartoons, anime, wildlife, variety programs, KZbin etc. if you have any other questions or need more clarification on something let me know.

none of those lecturers, wheter on the sunni or on the shia side, seem to be able to distinguish between contemporary pop music, almost always haram IN ITS CONTENT, and music as a whole. do they ever heard about bach or john coltrane? music is a medium and it's content is to be judge. do the abundance of pornographic books make us label ALL BOOKS as haram?
@Diarougha275 жыл бұрын
That's the exact content of the discussion about lyrics and the kind videos. Wheither religious or not , any enlightened person will tell you that what you see or hear will definitely affect how you think because eyes and ears are recorders and the frequency of the music you listen affect your emotional state because the human body is bundle of energy that is directed with frequency so choose the frequency in which you allow your tunes

@@AliA-ox9eu The definition of music is "vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion" Naats are music too, the humming tunes used in Islamic videos are music too. Generalizing music is stupid. Ayatollah khamenei and sistani are of the same veiw, that only immoral songs are haram.

Sunnis are Muslims, only non Muslims will be calling them a terrorist, If that makes any sense. Islam is a religion of peace. Islam does not accept terrorism. Sunnis are the majority, they follow the path of the Islam founder prophet Muhammad (SAW), the messenger of Allah (SWT). Talk about Shia? where to start from! Ask them, why not all Shia's go to Medina? Why Karbala & Najaf more important than Medina.? Does Ali come first before Muhammad (SAW)? You can only be a Muslim if you believe in Islam founder, Muhammad (SAW) & his teaching. (Nothing more to say) Shia's are 100% misguided.!

Imam Ali was the successor of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) so obviously Prophet Mohammad (as) is the Messenger of Allah (swt) where ever did you learn that shias believe in imam ali (as) before rasul'allah? And whoever said karbala or najaf was more important. Why najaf and karbala cannot be holy lands as well, medina is the islamic capital ofcourse its important. I believe you as an individual is misguided and knowledge is essential before you start to publicly post your in accurate knowledge on youtube.
