I found this very interesting video but as a 63-year-old over 100 pound overweight woman who’s not in very good shape . I am not in the worst shape, but I don’t have much endurance. I don’t feel like this was aimed at someone like me. Lots of talk about looking good as a leader but what if your a wife and mom and grandma and just want to get healthy , get rid of that inner fat, and you’re so far out of shape the thought of doing high intensity exercise is discouraging. So , this was a little difficult for me because I didn’t feel like it was aimed toward an average person it was aimed toward people with a lot of money who can afford to go just get MRIs like I cannot, but not for every day people that just want to improve their life and have a long healthy life and see those great grandchildren that he talks about. This talk almost made me feel like all he cares about is Rich people who are leaders and they can afford to do all these expensive tests and need to look good to be a leader. I wish there could be another video that was aimed toward the average person whose life is just as valuable as a wealthy person ,who just wants a good long healthy life with their family. I’m never gonna be a CEO But I have a good life that means a lot to me and I mean a lot to my kids and my husband and my family. Could there be a follow-up video maybe that’s more toward the actual person that’s watching this video not the rich high profile people that want to look good for their job. This was overwhelming when I looked at the screenshot he had his take. I still learned a lot from this but I just feel completely overwhelmed with the steps he had us take a picture of and just don’t know how to apply them to my life where I’m at right now. Not sure if anyone will see this but had to at least reach out.
@seektruth15998 ай бұрын
I'm 63 also... yes, tests and imaging are expensive, especially if out of pocket. Best advice is what we put in our mouth, when, and how often. Shutting down high insulin if the goal for us at our age & weight. Eating only one or two meals a day, all within a 6-8 hour window, with zero snacking in between, zero food within 3 hours (5 hours is better) of bedtime/sleep. Avoid underground veggies, no bread, grains, flour products, no seed oil or vegetable oils at all.. avoid all sweet fruit, stick with berries(blue, rasp, black & strawberries). No juice or sodas and sweet coffees. No sugar or processed food, nothing but whole foods. Tough, but it will pay off ! Focus on animal proteins, red meat is the most nutrient dense, fish(not deep fried), eggs, cheese, poultry
@catnapper666 ай бұрын
The scans show the results of you are what you eat living...so eat healthier and move a little more. I too detest leadership worship. And there was a bit of bias towards those who have a financial edge, but you don't have to be able to afford MRIs to eliminate processed foods from the diet. 96 hour fast seems a bit over the top, but mineral water is affordable if it is the only thing you are ingesting during a fast.
@randalchandler23666 ай бұрын
I haven't finished watching the video yet but there is a segment where he speaks about a person who just changed diet and did no exercise. I've been cutting down on sugar for 7 months and it's been hard for me to do but my habits toward it are changing, my weight came down 10lbs so far and long running shoulder pain and stiffness has almost diminished. I just started avoiding processed foods 2 weeks ago. I'll see where that goes before I exercise.

I have heard his comments on video and read some of his responses to the written comments. One responder had a stroke shortly after switching to carnivore and Dr Vega made a comment that said “ I wouldn’t be surprised if it was caused by the increased saturated fat.” I don’t understand his recommendations of low carbohydrate diet without switching carbohydrates for fats because nearly every plant that research macronutrients are high in carbohydrates. Fiber is still a carbohydrate. Mono, poly and disaccharide. Dr. OMara is incorrect in that "man" was not so much a sprinter but an "endurance" runners, especially when hunting. People are not that fast comparted to other animals. Man's prehistoric hunting habits were more like "wolves" out running prey to exhaustion versus sprinters like cheetahs or leopards. However, longer distance running is not by itself a cure all and high intensity exercise is preferred in my opinion for various reasons.
@peggidoug9 ай бұрын
Perhaps I misunderstood your post, but just to be clear, Dr. O'Mara does not recommend endurance type exercises and in fact says sprinting and other short but high intensity exercises are best for metabolic health. (He has said he used to be an endurance runner himself but now does sprinting instead).
@edl6539 ай бұрын
I agree with your reply/understanding. What I was pointing, after Dr. O'Mara made the statements about intensity versus endurance training, he tried to explain it in the evolution of man. That explanation was is incorrect. Homosapien was never primarily a sprinting hunter but instead used endurance to chase down medium to large prey, sometimes not even needing weapons. Humans were never fast comparted to other animals. But this is all a side subject. @@peggidoug
@jellybeanvinkler48789 ай бұрын
@@edl653I understood what you were getting at, and agree. But I would think that it's the chronic stress (in combo with modern diet) of regular forced long distance running today, that is different from the hunting trips of our ancestors. Not to mention, sprints back then probably involved actually running for one's life. To either finally procure food, or to NOT become food! Adrenaline and other hormones come into play, acutely, not chronically.

Eliminate carbohydrates-what does it mean for a person who doesn't eat processed foods? If somebody follows relatively low carb diet, but still eats some lentils, beans, potatoes, and fruits-is that bad? I like greek yogurt, artisan cheese, seafood, but as somebody who doesn't care for meat (I eat it sometimes) the options without carbs are getting limited (I don't want to/need to loose weight). Can you clarify the carb aspect, please?
@jellybeanvinkler48789 ай бұрын
Lentils, beans, and potatoes are full of carbs. This is not a low carb diet. I think meat is your only real option for a low carb diet. I personally got oxalate toxicity eating like you do. But I think it was the daily green smoothies that did me in, with lots of raw veggies including pounds of spinach.😢 Huge kidney stones (2+cm), parathyroidectomy, joint issues, plantar fasciitis, to mention a few of my health issues from "eating healthy." Now I eat salads with low oxalate greens, ferments, and meat/fish. I only wish I could give up dairy but I love it so. Cream in my coffee, ghee and butter, and cheese. I get grass fed products when I can.

He tries to sell his medical opinions by "stating" looks, classic marketing. This type of argument is "emotional" which most folks rely on rather than logic and scientific information. This is all fine, but medical facts are don't care about emotional stuff. I wish his presentation has been more scientific and quantified rather than sales pitch. His marketing has addressed "looks", "leaders", "military", "money", "intelligence" and sexual performance, hitting a broad marketing target. - He also doesn't seem to know that Jesus Vega is Dr. Vega and I am not sure why. It is "Dr. Vega". - I still value and agree with most of his recommendation and analysis. Dr. Brewer's questions were every good.

@jellybeanvinkler48789 ай бұрын
I have followed Dr OMara for years. His opinions and presentation have evolved. He does have a military background. And I don't think marketing comes into play so much, as his thoughts on evolution. Back in the day, no written language, we were more dependent on instincts. Just like birds and other animals, visual attraction came into play when it came to pairing up and procreating. It's a simple explanation that makes sense. He is like many of these Dr's and health professionals who tripped over this new road to health on a personal basis. Then are so blown away by their personal discoveries, they find a new professional path. They can help people and make their living with it too. Nothing wrong with that!
