Great message. I consistently make the mistake of hitting that PR and taking a week off where I just don't feel like training at all. What im trying now is just what you spoke about; getting 6 or 7 days of low intensity in a row before allowing myself to hit those red zone paces. Having that fast day to look forward to and working towards it will be better for my motivation, I think

It's hard to find the time when you are 30 years old. 30-50 was the busiest time of my life. I have the time to train now that I'm 70. Obviously I'm hiking now but I'm trying to add trail running (trail run/walking) and some long distance backpacking 100+ miles at a time at high elevation. @ 24:08 . . . Don't quit running just because you get injured, Ive had about every injury there is just in the last 5 years and I keep trying. I chose hiking hills for 10-20 miles 3-4 days a week, now I'm adding trail running and I keep getting stronger but I still need to lose about 10-15 more pounds to really get to running longer

I started to seriously lift/strength training in my 30s about 4yrs ago. I messed around with running in 2022 and ran a half-marathon race with many 10-27mi Long runs in training for that race. I took a year off, but I'm back now to run a marathon race in November! I have hit PRs on the 1mi, 5Km, 13.1mi, and other benchmark distances, which is fun. Hopefully these last couple of months go well and my race is a celebration of excellent training.

I still lift Mon-Fri, but I had to reduce volume and as focused on injury prevention as possible so as not to interfere with running. I run daily now. I am currently running about 25-40mi per week and climbing into September!

Near 1hr5min in, they talk about using the time wisely and have a good reason. There are many benefits to training, but the opportunity/time cost can be high, but worth it. Something that has helped me a lot is during running or lifting sessions, I pray a lot, listen to the Bible often, and otherwise listen to podcasts/lectures/music, and all of that by itself is beneficial on top of the training.

I like sprinting. I hate distance running. Walking is fine, especially on a nice day in a somewhat rural area.
