Cinecom team, I have a concern. By watching throughout the entire video I realize that 1 hour isn't really enough to make the Dr. Strange Portal Effect. The final outputs were really not quite what we should be expecting as viewers. The challenge is incredibly hard and it shouldn't be that way. If the effect was hard, try adjusting the time for example 2 or more hours so that more runtime for the storyline and to sell the effect even more. I'm sorry to say this but I'm a bit disapointed for the final ouputs. 😂

You could do this in like 10 min by just masking 2 layers and using either adobe particles or trapcode and just have it pinned to the mask itself.... other than tweaking velocity and glow filters, this should be simple. I've been experimenting with vfx since I was like 13 in 2008. I'm 23 now :) plus I do something similar in my music visualizers.

Add a null, add a light, dublicate the light. Parent the 2 lights to the null, scale the null so the lights are a decent distant apart. Add a rotation expression of time*500 or something to the null. Add a solid add cc particle world. Parent the emiter position to the lights. Decrese lifespan of particles. Make particles look like lines (sparks). Adjust ground plane .Add glow and u have your portal

I love your content, but if I may offer a criticisms, I really don't think the 1 hour time limit works well for this. Within this short of a time frame it becomes less about who can create the best effect, and more about who can come up with the _laziest_ method, because a quick and easy _method_ will result in a product that is more 'complete' than a superior method. I personally think the ideal time frame would be something like 8 hours, but if you guys have other jobs that'd make finding that amount of time difficult, you might be able to make it work with as little as 3.

I think the portal in that movie is not a CGI effect , its generated by capturing someone hanging firework and moving it in a circles , and the background was black also the the actor was wearing a full black clothes.

For anyone interested you should check out Red Giant and in particular you should check out Trapcode. It's worth every penny and you can create a bomb ass portal and sooooo much more. I just felt the need to mention them based on this video because I use their stuff and it's great.
