Dr Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. I will explain the real reason why they could not recall the bombers and the subtext of Buck's secretary and the Doomsday Device. I will also explain the subtext behind Ripper's dislike for fluoridated water and preference for drinking grain alcohol.
Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb is a 1964 black comedy directed by Stanley Kubrick who co-wrote the script with Terry Southern and Peter George based on George's 1958 book called Red Alert. The film stars James Earl Jones, Keenan Wynn, George C. Scott, Sterling Hayden, and Peter Sellers as Group Captain Lionel Mandrake, President Merkin Muffley, and Dr.Strangelove.

Yet again; I've seen this movie so many times and watched so much analysis of it that it's almost embarrassing... And here you come with a totally fresh (and yet, in hindsight, totally obvious) take. Please never stop. I'd love to hear your take on The Good/Bad/Ugly, The Gods Must Be Crazy, or The Big Lebowski, but I am now totally 100% sold on your Kubrick stuff, so feel free to just keep doing these!

A very good and thorough analysis again! One of my absolute favorite movies. I love this movie. It's also so much black humour and the paradox is that, In the same time, it is a very serious issue. I love Kubric's movies.

If you enjoyed Dr. Strangelove I highly recommend "Fail Safe" (1964) it's a movie that's came out the same year as Dr. Strangelove and it's essentially the same movie without the comedy. I saw these together as a double feature back in the 90's on Turner Classic Movies. Both films are great but Dr. Strangelove has survived into the current zeitgeist while "Fail Safe" is almost completely forgotten sadly.

Thanks for the recommendation. Believe it or not, a coworker also told me the Fail Safe was great. I'll check it out.

Indeed, Fail Safe is a great film ... very ominous. I think it faded from cultural memory because it is just a bit too intense, and that is a shame. It's a must watch for any cineliterate human being

@@richarddecredico6098 Thanks for the recommendation. Read about it. Can't believe I haven't seen it. Read that Kubrick tied the film up with a copyright suit long enough to put his version out first.

I loved this movie so much. It's dark humor is as relevant today as it was in 1964. It has some of the best casting of any movie I've ever seen. George C Scott is the ultimate macho General but he's such bumbling idiot is hilarious. Peter Sellers plays a bunch of characters but his heartless Nazi Scientist who suffers from turrets syndrome with his saluting tick is perfect. These are my 2 favorite but everyone is amazing in this. It was the earliest movie I ever saw with James Earl Jones who played a very similar but more important role in another wonderful Nuclear War film "By Dawn's Early Light" (1990).

It is a weird juxtaposition seeing Scott as Turgidson as opposed to Patton. Great over the top acting by all involved. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the advice, And yes, I tried what I read the other day and it was mind blowing to see her writhing with pleasure and ready for anything. It started when I learned to last at least 30 minutes go’ogling the latest in Greyzar Drinbo's PE Solutiono and now she keeps dragging me back lol
