Dr. Sugai Reviews: Vichy Mineral 89 Serum

Here we go! Vichy’s flagship Mineral 89...I have been using this hydrating serum by Vichy with its trademark volcanic thermal water for over a couple months now as I wanted to make sure that it worked well with the weather change. As we get into the colder seasons, our skin barrier can be easily compromised and I am seeing more eczema and psoriasis flares. Tis’ the season to moisturize and so I hope that this review is helpful and relevant to you this holiday season.

So what is this product in the shiny blue pump? When can I use it? I will go over when it comes to the rescue and also talk about its downsides.
The order of applying this boosting serum may differ depending on your products- general rule is use the thinnest to thickest products.
This product can be found on Amazon amzn.to/3o1WDrX and at your local retail store. A little goes a long way and so I would not be turned off by the price. It only has 11 ingredients but this is not considered an antioxidant serum.

I really like Vichy. Years ago, I used their Normaderm line. I’ve been using this Mineral 89 product for quite a while (I bought the great big bottle). I put it on both day and night immediately after washing my face, while my skin is still damp. It’s very soothing, like you said, and puts some moisture back into my skin immediately. I love that it creates some slip and my moisturizers and other serums layered over the top of it go on much more smoothly. Thanks for this review, Dr. Sugai! ❤

I'm thinking about incorporating this into my morning routine but I also use a Vitamin C serum, in what order should I apply them? I feel that it is very soothing but I can't see results that justify its high cost yet (it's expensive here in my country). I think that I will keep it til winter when I'm gonna use some anti pigmentation treatments and I'm gonna need it for the irritation. Would you recommend that? Why is it so expensive when it is mineral water, HA & glycerin. All cheap when separate. Vichy do a 150 ml water spray for £7. Inkey do a better mix of HA for £6= glycerin is nothing special. We can’t pay more for minimum ingredients ?

I’m so sad it broke me out lol. It felt amazing on my skin and felt so luxurious but damn I started breakout for that week and a half. Once I stopped, my acne was healing. I wonder why lol. Same thing happens with the Ordinary Hyaluronic acid serum.

Hyaluronic acid + retinol together can be very irritating. You should try one of the La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair moisturizers depending on your skin type. Most Derm rec Moisturizers without HA, should work well!

Thank you so much for this! I was recently prescribed a tretinoin and sulfur cream by my dermatologist and she did warn me about dryness and peeling and suggested an oil-free CeraVe moisturizer (I am oily in my T-zone), but I don't feel it helps much and it slightly burns when I apply it over, so I've been looking for an alternative and came across this one. Would you apply this before or after the tretinoin?

Agree that cerave can burn/sting when face is raw/irritated. Mineral 89 could be used before retinoid esp in the beginning. Later on when your skin is used to tret, you can maybe then switch to using mineral 89 after tret. Thanks for watching!

I’ve been using retinol for quite some time too!! I highly recommend the vanicream facial moisturizer for sensitive skin. It’s the only moisturizer that has not irritated my skin :)
