For thousands of Oregonians, the path to a medical marijuana card starts at a clinic in Southeast Portland staffed by Dr. Thomas Orvald, an 80-year-old retired heart surgeon from Yakima.
"I am here to take care of patients, that's what I've done my whole life." Thomas Orvald, MD

It works for me and keeps me from ever needing a Dr. Been smoking it since I was 14 and am now 49 and healthy with a clean driver's abstract. Been driving since I was 16.

More doctors need to learn about this and get on board.

IAMGiftbearer doctors don't want to get on board because once cannabis is legal all the real big opiate companies will lose a shit ton of money and I live in Mississippi and I read some stuff on the Internet about Mississippi Legalizing it but only in edible . Eventually one day it will become a big problem and Federal law will have to change it. More doctors see more money in killing their patients than saving them. Because They write you a prescription for oxycodone and you say I don't make me feel right so they write you a prescription for depression for antidepressants and then you're taking two prescriptions . Slowly killing yourself

Wouldn't cannabis be considered as first line therapy and opioids next if this doesn't help alone.?

alextheskaterdude07 a small amount of opiates and cannabis is exceptional for severe pain at the worst times.

Cannabis, it's extracts, oils, edibles; etc should be decriminalized and legalized nationwide for it's beneficial medicinal use by anyone with specific mental and physical illnesses, under the care of qualified physicians. I wish it were legal in my state now as I believe it would be beneficial in treating my chronic illnesses.

This is me but unfortunately mine is back pain from a childhood injury but living in good old Indiana this is not available to me, but it is to some of our neighboring states ! United i don't think so this states is so far behind the times its sad that the doctors here would rather you play good and take there anti depression medicine so they live to there full potential and live with the PAIN and kill there minds !

Being in extreme pain, my doctor tried various resources, including physical therapy as well as Opiod drugs. Nothing helped. I heard about cannibis treatment and decided to try it even though it is illegal in my state. I was shocked at the price of enough cannibis to roll one tiny cigarette. Sixty dollars. I inhaled and held two puffs. I don't know if it helped or not because I have no memory of the rest of the afternoon. I'm not sure I did it correctly, but I dont like the memory loss.

Cherokee Knight you'll be shocked perhaps, to find that what you smoked was definitely not pot. It does not cost 60 $ to roll a tiny cigarette anywhere in the world and it never, ever, ever leads to memory loss the way you describe. Be smarter!

Yeah you def took something else. Weed might cause some memory loose on certain things later during the high if you smoke crazy amounts, Personally I usually have better memory after smoking. But two puffs and a complete black out? Def not weed.
