A good time to donate blood is about 4-5 days before major holidays. It takes a few days for a blood bank to process the blood for use. So I normally try to donate before Memorial Day and Labor Day. Typically around holidays where there are increased accidents of all types. ie. boating, vehicle, etc. However, anytime is a good time to donate. You will be answering someone's needs & maybe prayers.

Your risk for heart attack is significantly reduced when you donate as well, triglycerides and cholesterol levels normalize significantly. My mother was not progressing with statins or they weren’t working tried other prescribed beta blockers finally I made her donate and walla” he Bp reglulated triglycerides returned to normal Bp went from sys 210 to sys 130 now I do this as well not only do you help others in dire need, you kill two birds with one stone.

@437765513 Жыл бұрын
@@tlibrary2741 It's good to give every 8 weeks. Once you get over the "hump" (could be 1 donation, could take 3 or 4 times) and your body becomes more used to donating, I swear it starts to feel really good. Not quite euphoric, but this really great feeling like you got 10 hours of great sleep is the best way I can think of describing it. I firmly believe it's a good anti-aging thing to do - and it's free and potentially saves lives.

While some blood goes to a good cause, much of it is wasted on fruitless cases of internal bleeding and it is just repeatedly given without stopping the source of the bleed. Then the patient dies anyway. Another popular one is alcoholic induced GI bleeds. People come in to the hospital, get blood, get cauterized, and then go back home and drink. Then they show up months later to have it done all over again. While it can be a winning situation for donor and recipient, there is a dark side to be aware of from someone who sees how units of blood are used first hand.
