Those huge great massive particles, that we could see, were way too big to enter our blood. Making the particles so small that we can't see them, certainly cleans the air, but does is it really getting better for our health? The particles now enter the blood, with the much needed oxygen, and are carried to every cell of our body. Systemic dysfunction does appear to have been rising since we made the air "cleaner".

@mercantilistic2 жыл бұрын
He's being an interviewer, he already knows the answer, he's asking for the sake of the viewer who might be asking those questions. As you already know most people don't do anything unless it benefits them, if that wasn't the case we would live in a utopia. Don't be childish. If donating blood is good the health of the donors more people will donate and that's good for everyone.
@quaveion2 жыл бұрын
@@mercantilistic First Childish isn't the word you are looking for. Secondly, Just because humans appear naturally selfish, doesn't mean it is the norm. Looking at this objectively, humans can be without cause altruistic, not all, but many have the innate ability to naturally be selfless and considerate. In the same way, some of us are pure cold-hearted evil and mass murderers, rapists, and the other evil sick stuff people do. Like many things with humans, this all varies based on the person and how "good" of a human being and citizen(meaning you are a part of a community and now have group obligations). SO I think your view is that of a child who can not and will not think of anyone other than themselves, unless it serves their own interests, like games, toys and other shit children fight about. Finally: I donate blood multiple times a year, I'm a Gold Gallon club member at NY Blood Center and I have a Platelet Card because although painful I still understand the importance of blood and platelet donation, never once been paid or wanted to be paid. Just want to help save lives. So I think My viewpoint is an adult one, not a childish view.

The interviewer was smart to keep the conversation geared towards the benefit of the donor.

Does giving blood skew your A1C score to be lower that it would be had you not given blood? i.e. biasing the A1C test results which measures the percentage of hemoglobin proteins in your blood that are coated with sugar (glycated). The A1 C test works because Red blood cells only live for ~ 90 days. The test result estimates the average glucose for the last ~ 90 days. Red blood cells take 4 to 6 weeks to replenish. So.... If you draw blood for your A1C test say 4 weeks after you gave blood, you might expect to have a larger proportion of fresh red cells from the red cell regeneration/replacement process in response to the blood giving. If blood giving does bias A1C test result, can the bias be minimized by say having the A1C test done at least 5 months after giving blood. This would ensure that the blood cells regenerated in response to blood letting will have mostly died off. Can an expert in hematology comment on this?
@abschmit Жыл бұрын
Yes, donating blood will lower your A1C over time. I had two A1C tests: one before donating and one right after donating. My A1C went down 0.1 and this was the day after donating! If I had waited a month or two, my A1C would've been even lower. So, yeah it skews the numbers lower even though blood sugar hasn't changed. Therefore, A1C isn't a good marker for blood sugar in a blood donor.
@CelineNoyce Жыл бұрын
Yes it does. In fact I would argue the premenopausal women could very well have much worse A1cs than they think they do because of the blood they lose with their period.

I am trying to get this message out but a lot of people don't want to hear it. For me, I was stuck on the idea - why do we have too much blood? But then I got the answer. When we were running around outside we were infected with parasites / had ticks, etc. They all caused us to lose blood without ever knowing it. So thanks to modern medicine we have too much blood. Over time our bodies will adjust but right now we need to get rid of blood to be healthy.
@nikk500211 ай бұрын
I don’t think we have too much blood. Especially women who already lose blood monthly with menstrual cycle. I think some people, especially some men may have excess iron, cholesterol, etc. due to many factors.
@Iamhungryforribeye9 ай бұрын
@@nikk5002 it’s not that there is too much blood since the body regulates the actual total volume of blood in the body. But the point is that some of that blood used to be taken out of our body by natural means of the blood sucking insects etc and now in more modern times those issues are not as prevalent in society so people are not getting that blood being removed which means the body doesn’t get as much opportunity to create new blood to fill the void of what was taken out since it maintains a relatively specific amount in the body. So if those toxins in the blood are not being removed by any means then those toxins continue to stack thus giving more health issues in the long run. Makes sense to me.
