Here’s another fun fact about the portraits you may or may not know: In the beginning as you walk to the Director’s Office, Trench is in the portraits. As soon as you leave the room with the service weapon, Jesse is in them. The change is immediate.

In the luck department you need a sum of 7 (lucky 7) each thing you do in that room gives you points on the TV So the lights on gives you 1 point, you off the carpet 1, the clover gives you 2 The horseshoe and the lucky cat each gives 1, and then the fish within 2 feet gives 1 Now you get 7 on the TV

I haven't seen the video yet so maybe this is old news by now, but I wanted to get it in early so it doesn't get drowned: Besides regular side quests, there are also a handful of unmarked quests of sorts that might be a tad obscure to figure out, but are worth pursuing. For instance, if you search the area around the furnace (where you burned the trash for Ahti) you might notice a number of TVs displaying flames (there's a total of 7 IIRC). Try throwing them all in the furnace.

I'm playing this game for the first time alongside your play-through videos, and I have to say that in this point in the story, the concept of a rapidly duplicating mundane object such as a clock being able to close down a wing of an inter-dimensional government agency really cemented this game as my favorite of this year. I love this stuff so much and it really reminds me of a fringe/x-files universe, I can't wait for more vids!

When you walked into Darling's Office, you got a Multimedia called HRAs you never listened to or watched. Again, you may want to turn on the copyrighted music for yourself and edit it out for us if you can because one segment of this game is going to lose its power and awesomeness with the music off. The DLCs are awesome and both of them add like 10 hours of additional content. They add a lot of new and cool areas, mods, enemies, missions, etc. The second DLC, which is called AWE, is a clever nod here that while we know AWE means Altered World Event, it could also mean Alan Wake Expansion, since the AWE DLC dives into Alan Wake stuff. It would probably be better if you replayed Alan Wake before playing the second DLC though to get a good refresher on everything so the stuff in the second DLC doesn't completely go over your head. This series is awesome!

When combat happens, the music changes and will remain changed until combat ends, so keep an ear out for that. If the music is not normal or silent ALWAYS assume combat is in progress and be prepared. With combat, always look as much for cues about enemies as the enemies themselves - strange blurs, the sounds of grenade or rocket launchers, the literal hiss of enemies, searchlights of snipers and so on. during earlier combats in the video lots of these cues were present but you had not noticed and consequently you were surprised by enemies. You're playing combat well enough, but it is going to get a LOT harder especially toward the end, and you will need better situational awareness, otherwise you will be surprised or swarmed by enemies and killed. Each time you die you lose "source" needed for upgrades and possibly abilities. If you happen to be losing too much source, you will have trouble improving your character and will have to farm with Board Countermeasures or face more difficult combat later in the game.
@JosephDufour4 жыл бұрын
The AWE DLC can be done alongside the main story, this has some Alan Wake references. And there are some very special mods you can get. The foundation DLC has to be started after most of the main story is done. I would love to see both, and a Wake playthrough too!

Apologies if this doubles up another comment. There are two DLCs out for control, the first one, the Foundation, has basically nothing to do with Alan Wake, but gives some great lore on how people first discovered the Oldest House, as well as some awesome new abilities (and cat ears for your costume if you can figure out the puzzle!). The second DLC, AWE is so deeply linked with the Alan Wake games that it might even be worth playing them and their DLCs before taking it on, depending on how good your memory of the Alan Wake games and their DLCs are. Also, I had forgotten how messed up Threshold Kids was! Wait until you find the lore for those!
