ABOUT NEW AMSTERDAM

I appreciate the Deaf representation! Dr. Wilder is amazing. Sandra Mae Frank does an incredible job, and I appreciate the writers telling her story. It is a huge deal for deaf people to have surgery on their hands.

​@carmensandiego328 She has to use her hand to sign, for the interpreter to translate what she says. She's afraid, because if she did the surgery, she can't take care of herself, or tell anyone what she wants, she'd be powerless and voiceless for weeks.

Max spent two years as a widower before moving to Helen. He may have had feelings for her but he did not act on them due to still loving Georgia. Also, it may stem that with Helen, Max was ready to open his heart again. Even though it didn't work out, the facet for love did not just turn itself off again. The heart is mysterious tbh.

"Deafness" can mean a wide range of hearing loss. It may be possible to hear noise without distinguishing words easily. Idk if that accounts for the scene or not, but the actress is genuinely Deaf.

Yeah. Deaf people can make sounds, including some words very clearly, but they cannot hear. Just because they are deaf doesn't mean they can't make sounds. Pd: the actress is also deaf so she is not faking
