The prophet looted, raped and killed people who thought he was a joke which he was marrying a six year old girl. He was just a warlord khalifa who justified all his doings that Allah was telling him to do through Angel Gabrial. Prophets are men who have had divine experiences and which have been written down in extreme details. This is a controversial but necessary speech on reform. From my understanding however, the only way to be a Muslim and hold this position is to state that the Quran and the hadith are products of their time and therefore a lot of it's guidance is outdated and should not be followed in the modern age. As he mentions, Christianity did go through this process, so it is possible, no matter how unlikely and bleak it seems at this stage of human history
@nikky84666 күн бұрын
Outdated? I see no difference in the Quranic concept of electing a leader among the people to govern the community with the modern concept of democracy. The true word here is liberalism. The West is very secular and un-Christian. They hate their own religion while claiming to follow it. Calling it reformed. How can you be Christian and un-Christian at the same time? And why now they have problems with Islam? The Crusader Kingdoms acknowledged the contributions of medieval Muslims during the Islamic Golden Age. All those Greek and Arabic terms we use today in food, science, medicals, physics, chemistry, astronomy, all came from the translated and preserved texts. Greek texts, Indian mathematics and Chinese medical texts. Those brown people, the Persians and Arabs that they hated were the ones preserving and translating ancient knowledge. But I kind of agree with you since we no longer have prophets or representatives of God who were “ma`sum” or incorruptible. We literally have muslim leaders nowadays that purposely misquoted the Quran and the Quranic concept of governance for selfish purposes and personal gains. Just like what Netanyahu did to rile up the soldiers to k*ll “Amalek.” Same thing, different stuff. So the Caliphate system is no longer compatible since none of us are angels. So, religion and politics must not be mixed. Edit: And if western democracy is better, why so much chaos in the world? I’m talking about Western interference in foreign elections.
@omar_ali_0005 күн бұрын
@nikky8466 Islam professes to be an unimpeachable body of divine guidance that if you follow without deviation, you cannot question or vote against, so by definition it's undemocratic. So all it's toxic content denigrating non-muslims and the abhorrent war filled rhetoric can essentially become a command. And we've seen that play out globally. It's not about democracy being amazing, it's about the freedom it gives to everyone to have a voice and for a system to not fall into tyranny or totalitarianism, which is commonly the case with systems based on divine edicts.

......and how may hundreds of verses in the Qran,Sira ,Hadith call for the murder of anyone that doesn't submit?
@farawayfromyourcountry8 күн бұрын
The Quran and Hadith do not promote indiscriminate violence against non-Muslims or those who do not submit to Islam. The Quranic verses and Hadiths often cited in this context are specific to historical situations, typically related to warfare or self-defense. They are frequently misunderstood or taken out of context. Quranic Verses Often Cited 1. Surah At-Tawbah (9:5): Known as the "verse of the sword," it says: > "Kill the polytheists wherever you find them..." This verse is often quoted without context. Historically, it refers to a specific period during which treaties were broken by certain groups hostile to the Muslim community. The verse is surrounded by conditions of peace and amnesty for those who cease hostilities. 2. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:190): > "Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors." This verse emphasizes self-defense and explicitly forbids transgression or aggression. 3. Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:32): > "Whoever kills a soul...it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one, it is as if he had saved mankind entirely." This verse underscores the sanctity of life and the severe prohibition against unjust killing. Context in the Hadith While there are Hadiths discussing war, they must be understood in the context of defensive or just warfare. For example: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prohibited killing non-combatants, women, children, and religious clergy during war. He instructed: > "Do not kill women, children, or non-combatants, and do not cut down fruit-bearing trees." (Sunan Abu Dawood, 2614) Misconceptions and Selective Interpretation The claim of "hundreds of verses" calling for violence against non-Muslims is an exaggeration rooted in misinterpretations or deliberate misrepresentations. Most verses in the Quran focus on moral guidance, spirituality, and community building. When discussing warfare, they are almost always in the context of defense, justice, or response to aggression. Scholarly Understanding Islamic scholars emphasize understanding the Quran and Hadith within their historical, linguistic, and situational contexts. Any interpretation advocating indiscriminate violence contradicts the broader principles of justice, mercy, and peace central to Islamic teachings. i know maybe you're not muslim and of course you do not read the quran or hadith, so i can excuse your ignorant ❤

Separation of religion and government is a fantasy. Western governments are not really separated from Christianity. Reform Islam while keeping the beliefs written in the book supposedly word of God? It's the word of God. How do you change that. The word of God says to hate Jews and non believers. The word of God says to treat women differently. The word of God allows to keep slaves. It is also said the book is for ever. Not for that time but for all times. Muslims are just practicing that. Some others try to distort what is written. Whatever is written is written. When you say it's word of God and that people will endure the wrath of God if they don't listen how can you reform while staying within Islam. Those who follow the book will never follow democracy. So what can we do who believe in liberties and western ideologies. Only welcome people who are willing to or show that they like West. You cannot reform Islam and it's believers who learn the book with much more priority over sciences and maths.

For more than a year now, I’ve been exploring KZbin channels that deal with the interface of Islam and the West. Over and over and over I have urged that Muslims undertake a reform of Islam and asked for any information to the effect that such a reform movement was being at least discussed. Imagine my delight to stumble on this video!!! Beginning before the sixteenth century but raching a crescendo in that century, a reform movement was undertaken in Christianity. Even after the giant step taken by protestants in the sixteenth century, it wasn’t until the seventeenth century that Roger Williams and William Penn took the bold step of offering liberty to people with whom they disagreed. If you aren’t acquainted with the context in which that happened and how it happened, please study that aspect of history. It is indeed sad that, in the twenty-first century, the majority of professed Christians, at least in the United States, think the only alternative to Shira and “environmentalism” is to use civil government to promote their ostensibly Christian beliefs and practices and to use civil government to enforce their ostensibly Christian prohibitions. That’s a step backward, in my opinion. I’d like to learn more about the Islamic Reform Movement mentioned in this video. In the meantime, I hope Muslims everywhere can study the protestant reformation and the breakthroughs achieved by Roger Williams and William Penn in the seventeenth century. Perhaps something about that history can serve as inspiration - or maybe even models - for Muslims who see the advantages of encouraging similar reforms within Islam. P.S. I confess that I didn’t read an English paraphrase of the Qur’an until 2021-2022 but, because I have done that, I’m somewhat acquainted with the challenges of reforming Islam.

I suppose Muslims need to invest into research, find their own path and figure out how to contribute to the world. They could come up with something new and better.

This opinion offers a valuable perspective, and from an Islamic point of view, it aligns with key teachings about the pursuit of knowledge and contributing positively to the world. Islam encourages the pursuit of knowledge, innovation, and contributing to the betterment of humanity. The Qur'an repeatedly calls on believers to reflect, ponder, and seek understanding of the world. For instance, the verse: > "He raises the ranks of those who believe and those who have been given knowledge." (Qur'an 58:11) This highlights the importance of intellectual growth and its value in Islam. 1. Islam’s Historical Contributions Throughout history, Muslims have significantly contributed to various fields such as science, medicine, mathematics, philosophy, and the arts. The Islamic Golden Age (8th-13th centuries) serves as a prime example, where scholars like Al-Khwarizmi (mathematics), Ibn Sina (medicine), and Al-Farabi (philosophy) laid foundational work that shaped modern disciplines. This legacy demonstrates that Islamic teachings are not a barrier to innovation but a catalyst for it. Muslims today can draw inspiration from this heritage to lead in contemporary fields. 2. Pursuing Research and Innovation Modern challenges require Muslims to engage in cutting-edge research and find solutions rooted in both ethical principles and scientific rigor. This means not only catching up with advancements in areas like technology, renewable energy, and medicine but also leading with innovations that prioritize social equity and environmental stewardship-values deeply embedded in Islam. 3. Developing Unique Contributions Muslims have a unique opportunity to contribute to the world by integrating spiritual and moral frameworks with technological progress. This could involve: Promoting ethical artificial intelligence that respects human dignity. Innovating in sustainable practices, as environmental stewardship is a key Islamic value. Contributing to peacebuilding and justice, inspired by Islamic teachings on equality and compassion. 4. Investing in Education and Collaboration For these contributions to become a reality, investment in education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and creating environments that nurture curiosity and creativity are essential. Islam encourages working collectively for the common good (ta’awun), making global partnerships a natural extension of Islamic values. In summary, the opinion is both valid and constructive. Islam not only supports but mandates the pursuit of knowledge and contributing to human progress. By embracing this call, Muslims can indeed create new and better pathways for themselves and for the world.
