That the country of world wide online fraud and corruption lectures anyone is as ridiculous as this comendian come grifter. India still operates a medievel caste system and the speaker and/or his ilk represent under 1% that would be the beneficiaries of any aid due to endemic corruption which by the way no else, including the British caused. No country should pay reperations or all must. Those that are chasing it will almost always be those in the top teir that will directly benefit. Read this to know about our past and achievements. Ancient India's Achievments: 1. Brits say they gave us education. But, we already had ancient universities like nalanda, takshashila, vikramshila, and much more over thousands of years ago. 2.Indians had concepts of calculus before west like infinite series for pi, power series for sine and cosine, inverse tangent series, and much more. These series were made by Madhava, who was a medieval indian mathematician and astronomer. 2. Aryabhatta invented sine function. 3. Bhaskara II gave modern definitions of sine and cosine. 4. Sushruta performed complex surgeries like brain, cataract, rhinoplasty, limb, and much more over 2000 years ago. Surgery was invented in Egypt first, but we made many contributions to it. 5. Maharishi Kanad, a philosopher, proposed the idea of atoms in 600 BCE. 6. Brahmagupta invented the formula to determine the area of cyclic quadrilaterals. 7. Decimal System. 8. Binary number system by pingala. 9. Ayurveda. 10. Bhaskara I stated that at the highest point, the rate of change is zero. 11. Varahamihira predicted water on Mars thousands of years ago. 12. Sridharacharya invented the modern-day quadratic formula. 13. Solutions to quadratics. Modern India's Achievements: 1. Har Gobind Khorana synthesized the first artificial gene and demonstrated the role of nucleotides in protein synthesis. He also artificially synthesized coenzyme A and played a massive role in cracking the genetic code. I reccomend you watch and learn more about him. He shaped modern genetics. 2. Chandryaan 3 landing on the south pole of moon. 3. Mars Mission. 4. Sun Mission (Aditya - L1) 5. Fiber optics by Narinder Singh Kapany. 6. Jagdish Chandra Bose was one of the pioneers in wireless communication before Marconi and transmitted signals before him. 7. Discovery of millimeter waves by Jagdish Chandra Bose. 8. Discovery of cholera toxin by Dr. Sambhu Nath De. 9. USB by Ajay Bhatt. 10. Pentium Chips by Vinod Dham. 11. S.N. Bose made contributions to quantum mechanics like Bose-Einstein condensate and laid the foundations for Higgs Boson. 12. Quantum Statistics by S.N. Bose. Also, Boson particles are named after him. 13. G.N. Ramachandran discovered the triple helical structure of collagen protein and deepened our understanding of sickle cell anemia. 14. Ramachandran plot, which is a tool used to visualize which angles can amino acids take in proteins. 15. Venki Ramakrishnan discovered the high resolution atomic structure of ribosomes, which gives us a deeper understanding of how ribosomes manufacture proteins. 16. First DNA based Covid Vaccine. 17. Cervical Cerclage was first described by Sirodkhar. 18. Crescograph. 19. George Sudarshan was one of the pioneers in quantum optics. (Watch and learn more about him). 20. Microwave Optics. There are many more indian greats you should learn about. Examples: Srinivasa Ramanujan, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, C.V. Raman and Raj Reddy (one of the pioneers in AI along with McCarthy). These brits committed horrific atrocities against us and brought artificial famines, which killed 100s of millions of Indians. They also r*ped teenage indian girls and sold them to s*x slavery. They did the same with young women. This caused a spread of nasty stds. They also shot indian children with rifles and flogged them with their whiplash tool or whatever it is. Ps, we had advanced ship building industries and textile industries. They destroyed it. Not only that, Westerners teach you about these inventions, but never tell indian origins. Not only that, these people call us primitive, yet look at our ancient architecture.Many of our inventions were wrongfully attributed to Westerners. Also, I do not know why Greece is considered Western when their culture is nothing close to Western. They did not have a civilization of their own, so they had to appropriate Greek and Roman identity. If Greece and Rome did not exist, they would start calling Egypt, Babylon, and Sumeria as Western 😂😂. Well karma is a b**ch, anglos and other Western countries are on a decline, and I bet they will not even exist in the coming years because of immigration and because of their looted money they can last only so long, I will enjoy their demise.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

With global industrialization they would've failed with or without Britain's help. Considering India didn't have the skills or national unity to organize it's own government there would be nothing without it. They've still not been able to end the caste system. Ask Pakistan, Bangledesh and the disputed regions about the Indian way. He would be nowhere without his position in GB.

Edwin Samuel Montagu, the Secretary of State for India, who called it "a grave error in judgement". In a debate in the House of Commons, he asked, "Are you going to keep your hold on India by terrorism, racial humiliation, subordination and frightfulness, or are you going to rest it upon the goodwill and the growing goodwill of the people of your Indian Empire?" Winston Churchill, at the time Britain's Secretary of State for War, who called the massacre "an episode without precedent or parallel in the modern history of the British Empire… an extraordinary event, a monstrous event, an event which stands in singular and sinister isolation... the crowd was neither armed nor attacking" during a debate in the House of Commons. In a letter to the leader of the Liberals and former Secretary of State for India, the Marquess of Crewe, he wrote, "My own opinion is that the offence amounted to murder, or alternatively manslaughter." Former Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Party H. H. Asquith, who observed: "There has never been such an incident in the whole annals of Anglo-Indian history, nor, I believe, in the history of our empire since its very inception down to present day. It is one of the worst outrages in the whole of our history." B. G. Horniman, who observed: "No event within living memory, probably, has made so deep and painful impression on the mind of the public in this country [England] as what came to be known as the Amritsar massacre." The era of O'Dwyer and Dyer has been deemed "an era of misdeeds of British administration in India". During the Dyer debates in the Parliament of the United Kingdom, there was both praise and condemnation of Dyer. In 1920, the British Labour Party Conference at Scarborough unanimously passed a resolution denouncing the Amritsar massacre as a "cruel and barbarous action" of British officers in Punjab, and called for their trial, the recall of Sir Michael O'Dwyer and the Viceroy, Lord Chelmsford, and the repealing of repressive legislation.[60] Settlement in Britain Churchill, the then Secretary of State for War, wanted Dyer to be disciplined, but the Army Council superseded by him decided to allow Dyer to resign with no plan for further punishment. Following Churchill's speech defending the council's decision and a debate in Parliament, on 8 July 1920 MPs voted for the government by a majority of 247 to 37; a motion calling for approval of Dyer's actions was defeated by a majority of 230 to 129. In 1940 O'Dwyer was assassinated in London. Dyer suffered a series of strokes during the next and last EIGHT years of his life following the massacre and he became increasingly isolated due to the paralysis and speechlessness inflicted by his strokes. He died of cerebral haemorrhage and arteriosclerosis on 23 July 1927 On his deathbed, Dyer reportedly said: So many people who knew the condition of Amritsar say I did right...but so many others say I did wrong. I only want to die and know from my Maker whether I did right or wrong. The Morning Post remembered him in an article titled "The Man Who Saved India" and "He Did His Duty" but the (Liberal) Westminster Gazette wrote a contrary opinion: "No British action, during the whole course of our history in India, has struck a severer blow to Indian faith in British justice than the massacre at Amritsar." Historian Gordon Johnson commented that "...Dyer's actions ran counter to Army regulations. These required that force should be constrained by what was reasonable to achieve an immediate objective; minimum, not maximum, force should be deployed. Moreover, proper warning had to be given. On 13 April 1919, as demonstrated by Collett, Dyer ignored this. While he may have believed the Raj was threatened, and may have thought the mob was out to attack him and his soldiers, this does not justify his cavalier abuse of procedure and his indifference to Indian suffering. In so behaving, he brought not only death to the innocent but also destroyed himself and undermined the empire in which he took so much pride."
As a British person I applaud this man and am sorry to India for what the Empire did to your country. The government and royal family owe India a lot. Upon learning the truth I have decided not to take pride in the history of the British Empire. In school they sugarcoat how they pillaged India when really it was one of if not the greatest theft in history.

All while the middle class live a life of luxury, and the government spend millions sending a probe to Mars. Not to mention the oppressive caste system. India is clearly in no position to lecture others about morality. If he was sincere he would hold his own nation up to the same amount of scrutiny.

@rorysglory43058 жыл бұрын
@RyanDavies Did you hear his argument on what was India's contribution to global GDP before the British came and after they left? if yes then you would understand where the poverty came from. India is indeed on a higher moral ground than of British of all people. And probably that was india's weak point back in that time. If India was a sword wielding babarian nation like 17th century British then we wont have been a colony at all. And regarding the Mars program, the technology developed by the funding of that project enabled India to do early detection of Cyclones, saving millions of lives every year. The technology developed in space programs across the world are widely used in daily life (like breast cancer diagnosis) . So, that argument you made is laughable and makes you sound like an illiterate
@Razovllay8 жыл бұрын
Rorys Glory India's GDP share was already in terminal decline before the British arrived, Goods that India had a monopoly were now being produced elsewhere in the world and were therefore dramatically falling in value. Europe was also beginning to go through an Industrial Revolution, a process stage that India was nowhere near achieving. As for morality, India wasn't busy fighting others because it was busy fighting itself. The British conquest actually prevented a number of horrific civil wars. Essentially were it not for the Raj, India would still have been poor, but it would also have been disunited. The very concept of Indian unity developed under British rule.

@audobone9 жыл бұрын
+Pat Emilio (Illogic Buster) It means that there was no democracy brought by the British into India, not that the British took away a pre-existing form of democracy in India. You've interpreted the statement wrongly.
@persimmon939 жыл бұрын
Pat Emilio If you honestly think that Great Britain at the height of its empire recognized equality between British and colonials, then you really need to research what colonialism is with a realistic mindset. Think about it. Do you really think Great Britain had "Indian" representatives in Parliament protesting the invasion of their country? Do you really think British citizens who committed crimes in India were treated equally compared to if an "Indian" committed the same crime? Besides. before we even begin to ask the question if European colonialism was good for Asians because it "brought democracy" we have to ask the question what exactly is democracy, because there are many people who would argue Great Britain itself wasn't a democracy. Some say Great Britain was a constitutional monarchy, others say an oligarchic-plutocracy. So to say that Great Britain "introduced" democracy to India or any of its colonies is as true as saying Great Britain allowed their American colonials to be independent without bloodshed. India fought for their independence via non-violence resulting in thousands of unwarranted deaths on the side of the "Indians" which resulted in Great Britain being pressured to allow India to become independent. After which, Indian princes/leaders held a meeting and eventually agreed to set up a democratic system to govern their sub-continent. I hope this has been a good lesson for you. Just remember, colonialism = bad. Glorious but still bad.
@persimmon939 жыл бұрын
Pat Emilio I was proving a point that colonialism = bad because of the inequality that comes naturally in the relationship between the conquerors and the conquered. Even if you attempt to justify it saying "they were a savage land before "Britain" introduced democracy etc." (Which is wrong anyway).
@ITOWords9 жыл бұрын
+Pat Emilio (Illogic Buster) Britain was not a democratic country until well after its colonisation of India was complete. So it is impossible for you to say that, without Britain, India would not have made its own progress towards democracy (just as Britian had over the course of the nineteenth century), because quite simply Britain removed India's political freedom to do so by maintaining a despotic imperial administration of India. You should also take account of Japan, which was one of the few other Asian countries not to come under Western imperial control during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, but still developed its own democratic institutions during the nineteenth and early twentieth century without the interference of western colonialism. In the case of Britain's colonial relationship with India, it is incontrovertible that Britain suppressed calls by Indian's for the establishment of their own democratic institutions. Even after the close of the First World War, when 1.2 million Indian servicemen had fought for Britain and its Empire (a higher figure than the combined numbers of servicemen from South Africa, Canada, New Zealand, and Canada), Britain still denied India any sort of meaningful democratic rights which gave Indians' sovereignty over how their own country was administered. In doing so, Britain denied India the democratic privileges that many Indians had hoped that their country's sacrifice would have earned. The reality is Britain only moved towards establishing meaningful democratic institutions in India, once the British realised during the Second World War that Indian independence was inevitable and that it would be in the West's interests to establish a democratic capitalist Asian power rather than one which underwent a Communist revolution. As you might have guessed by now, your statement was ill-informed and incorrect when you praised Britain for moving India along a path towards democracy. There is no proof that India would not have done so itself had it had the political freedom to do so; and when Britain did finally encourage Indian self-representation it was only answering long-standing Indian calls for democracy in an attempt to preserve its own interests during the final death throws of the British Empire.

But I did not make this comment so that you can tell me how my country is a myth. How it only exists because of the British and "jihadist propaganda". My country is my identity. Just like India is yours. Despite what your history books say, Jinnah is to me what Gandhi is to you. This speech is interesting but the irony is there was no India before British came. It was all petty kingdoms, India is size of Europe. To create a country by force joining all these petty kingdoms and to rule it for 200 years it is not a small task. I doubt if British had not come we could have created a country with all our caste, languages, sects, religions, geography into one nation. When just British left itself we fragmented into two nations Pakistan and India Hindu religion reformed and Indian intellectuals like Nehru, Gandhi, Tilak, Man Mohan Roy, Ambedkar, Maulana Azad were all product of British education and British rule.

Well karma is a b**ch, anglos and other Western countries are on a decline, and I bet they will not even exist in the coming years because of immigration and because of their looted money they can last only so long, I will enjoy their demise.

miuzicspel it would take me days to reply to every single one of your absurd arguments but there's two that I would like to mention specifically - Indias share of GDP is lesser now than in 1947 is because there are many, many more countries now owing to decolonization, disintegration of USSR or simply breaking up and formation of new states. Second - Are you comparing the greatest colonial empire to some insignificant event that happened thousands of years ago which has never been mentioned and hasn't caused Britain any permanent harm in any way whatsoever. Stop denying it. Colonialism was probably the greatest effort man has ever made to carry out the cruelest of crimes under the guise of 'development' and finally the oppressed are asking for nothing more than an apology, getting cowardly whispers of nonsensical, misinformed statistics back. this shows nothing more than Britain's famous historic lack of empathy and complete disregard to anyone's interests other than itself. I hold no brief for the British Empire or for any empire but I will merely observe that for a huge and thriving sophisticated, knowledgeable, healthy, scientific and ancient people like the Indians it is surprising that a little country like England could have subdued it and added it as a colony and made that plump little female on the throne the Empress of India. Were you guys asleep or what? Or is this one big fairy story? Now you cannot blind us with all the persiflage and insults to and about the British to divert us away from that important question which needs answering. While you are about it in which great Indian University did they measure in the year 1600 the GDP of both India and the world. I am interested to discover that. As a non-Indian I mourn the murder of one of the greatest your country has produced and regret many other things the disgraceful caste system and the treatment of the dalits (the untouchables), the inability to get along with your minorities such as the Muslims and the destruction and death which followed the Brits leaving India and wholesale suicides of so many Indian farmers. Those British never introduced the disgusting habit of burning corpses by the Ganges and tossing the remains in the already polluted River. I've seen the pictures Yeach! I suggest that you use your time and energy fixing these and other problems in preference to insulting those Brits living today whose ancestors likely shed blood in expanding the empire in India and other places. Some of today's Brits run thriving businesses that they would NOT have been able to if they had not left India for Britain. When you have reached the standards of other places which were once part of their empire such as America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc I would like to hear more of your complaints.

India was not a single nation when the British first came.The British came here for business purposes which was by then sponsored by the then invaders of India,the Mughals.To be honest,there was no such thing as India back then because only the races of Dravidians and Aryans who came on the banks of the Indus were the earliest Indians.At that particular time,there was continuous war between the Mughals and other smaller territories in the region which we today know as "India".The East India Company took advantage of this and the carelessness of Mughals strenghthened their position even more.Furthermore,the defeat of French and Portuguese by the Britishers led to even more control over the region.There was no such thing as India till the beginning of 20th century,when people began searching for a symbol of unity symbolising the entire region as 'Bharat Mata' or Mother India.Even after the independence,Sardar Vallabhai Patel went to every kingdom in the Indian subcontinent and asked for the formation of a new nation.So your whole notion of a huge country is completely wrong.India is known for its unity in diversity because more than 90% of the entire country has not descended from Indian subcontinent itself

On the other hand, research suggests that from about 1870 to 1930 Britain took about 1% of India's wealth per year. This was much less than the French, Dutch and Germans took from their lands. The British invested about £400 million in the same period. They brought in an irrigation programme, which increased the amount of land available for farming by 8 times. They developed a coal industry, which had not existed before. Public health and life expectancy increased under British rule, mainly due to improved water supplies and the introduction of quinine treatment against malaria. Big landowners, Indian princes, the Indian middle classes all gained in terms of job opportunities, business opportunities and careers in areas like the law. Ordinary Indians gained little, but the argument still continues about whether British rule made much difference to their lives. Many historians think that the majority of Indians would have remained poor even if they had been ruled by Indians.

The invaders were the invaders who took the motherland of the indigenous people for the sake of their good. But why we talk so much about British is because they have not just colonized India but a major part of the world land. Europeans in the game of colonization went long way and vanished the culture and economy and that is what we call "imperialism". No other invader in india occupied the greater land as compared to bristish in india. Yes the previous Arab rulers afghan ruler and say mongol invaders took the wealth to their country and we still call them invaders. Muslim rulers like Alauddin Khilji, SherShah Suri, Akhbar etc ruled with the great economic measures and introduced number of reform in the economic and cultural aspect which has been adopted in the modern administration. And the point is none of these rulers can be called as invaders because if we call them the invader we must call any king of that era "the invader". None took the wealth for the sake of their own motherland because they ruled their territory as their motherland. Whereas British even at the time of industrial revolution took raw material from their colonies. Ask America the question that what was the point of 13 colonies at the Atlantic coast? was it really to migrate because of the shortage of land? British even restricted their own colonies to do business and imposed heavy duties. Thus they rebel and asked for the total independence. So its the question of selfish administration that has been imposed forcefully on us. And we still Mr Ripon "Ripon the good" and praise Mr William Bentinck for the efforts he made in abolishing the practices of sati,child marriage etc

They saw that crack way back in 174 year ago & separated the great Bharat & because of you people, they are doing it again because Keralites are diverted & blinded by their fake appreciation but the fact is Bharat is & always has been the land of Hindus, Sanatani which governed the nation of different religions & soon, it will entirely become one nation again with one mind & heart that sync with one ideology of togetherness. Of course you have our genes. After all Pakistan was a part of India during the British rule. They divided us. Mohammed Ali Jinah was equally responsible for the partition. He thought he was doing it for a noble cause, the security of muslims. What he didn't know was that his political backers and supporters were the Jamindars, Jagirdars and Muslim businessmen who thought their business interests would be suppressed under Hindu majority of India. So they created a new country to further their corporate ambitions. Jinah was deceived by those corporate vultures..

Oh accuracy got harmed along the way in several places through oversimplfying certain aspects, but the readers here only want the sensationalist version. Two examples being to ignore that India (not that it was even a single state) was set to decline in economic status anyway as the western world was going through industrial revolutions which saw massive increases in output that meant they were in the process of racing past India anyway. India was not an untroubled Nirvana before Britain came along. And the speaker here is massively underplaying the complexities of the Bengal famine during the most far reaching of the two world wars. He also seems to have forgotten that Churchill did lobby for American assistance to the famine and also arranged for a lot of food to be sent there once it was established that it wasn't just a local transportation failure. Churchill was no saint, but this guy is making it sound like he wanted it to happen.

Well karma is a b**ch, anglos and other Western countries are on a decline, and I bet they will not even exist in the coming years because of immigration and because of their looted money they can last only so long, I will enjoy their demise.

This chap needs to go onto every television channel in the U.K. and teach the British that it wasn’t all gung ho, adventure, and bringing the dubious benefits of the west to the colonies. In every European country they have at a minimum begun to face up to their colonial oppression and have open honest public discourse and education around what they did. In schools it is now part of the curriculum. Yet in Britain…. Nothing except old white wealthy men who voted overwhelmingly for brexit to bring back the empire and get Empire Mk II up and running. Now, in June 2021 they’re beginning to understand that they ought to have listened to the very experts they said they had had enough of, and see that we are no longer Great Britain. We are an increasingly fractured Union of colonised nations, which look like they are going to chart their own course soon. And I wish them every success. So, as to the point, do we owe reparations? Undoubtedly yes, but how do you begin to quantify what we did, the lives taken, enslaved, oppressed, imprisoned and murdered. How do we even quantify the art stolen, the jewels, the very rock and metals that they stood on? You can’t. So, a good place to start, no, a great place to start, is educating our people here in our own murky inglorious history, and having this in every text book, and perhaps have something different on the history channel’s than the royal family and world war 2. Teach about nuanced racism, and how and why we’re seeing the rise of the far right here, and in some European countries. Educate. Educate. Educate. The young now are going to have to literally fix the world and the issues caused since industrialisation, and face up to nations like India running out of water because of the glaciers that feed her rivers have shrunk. Perhaps this is going to be the way forward? Humane, honourable, and generous aid, and immigration opportunities if those people wish it. So. Written in my hospital bed, as I have the second bout of non Covid fortunately pneumonia in five weeks, and I hope that I have made sense, and not missed too much, and strayed from the question beyond a tolerable degree. Oh. And get vaccinated people. You don’t turn magnetic! 😷🇮🇳🇵🇰🇬🇧🏳️🌈👍🏻

@@ponvishwesh5907 Actually, I thought a bit more over it, and I think I get the joke now.. but I'm not sure. My interpretation is that like how our govt, rather than allocating a substantial portion of our budget for the purpose of solving our farmers' problems, instead spends a pittance on fertiliser subsidies... similarly British aid to India is much less what is actually needed. But if my interpretation is correct, I find it really surprising that the audience all understood the joke (and immediately!). I wouldn't have thought that the "fertiliser subsidies" problem is present in other countries like England too.. I also watched some reaction videos to this speech and even all those people immediately understood the joke too.
