Thank you for the compliment. It's actually a seat off the DL1000 (Suzuki v-strom). I was able to make it fit nicely and it's far more comfortable than I could ever get the stock on Sargent seat. I use my dr for a lot of 2-up travel and very limited off road, and the DL1000 seat is great for it. I will update the video later this season, and a review of the bike.

@louiewatson93894 жыл бұрын
If you got oil coming from the spark plug washers, you have shot oil rings on your piston and it's fouling your spark plug and valves. You needed a top end rebuild for sure then. If not, it was more than likely the valve cover gasket.

Saw that kit on Procycle's website! Still drooling over it... Hoping that one day I will be able to get that on my DR. I know it's an older vid but good job on the install. If you still have the bike you should post some riding videos to see how the 790 kit performs :) *T4S*

He has a breakdown of the installation here: advrider.com/index.php?threads/dr650-790-big-bore-installation-and-review.860980/ He said it was a combination of running lean, WD40 etc in the engine, and possibly no fuel at all.

turned out pretty nice. at first when I heard that oil in the cylinder head thing I was like damn this dude going to mess it up... but seems like you did well, obviously lubricated everything well before assembly. you maybe should have cleaned the combustion chamber and had the head checked, that's what I would have done at least but it's okay.
@planemanx157 жыл бұрын
Yes this was definitely a learning experience for me. This was my first time rebuilding the top end of a 4-stroke. Lessons learned. The guy I sold the bike to is selling it now with over 10,000 miles on the rebuild.
@Oxenan177 жыл бұрын
+planemanx15 you always learn something new when doing these things. I have a long past with these engines but still every new engine is a new opportunity to learn! I have a DR myself, I bought it from a friend of mine. Piston is blown to a million pieces, the guy who sold it to my friend was not as succesful with the rebuild as you. Great job done here and for a first 4 stroke rebuild this bike is definately not the easiest.
