If you have good reasons why and what you were doing to maintain your skills at that time, I dont think that will be a problem.

Gmc does not ask for it. Indian councils do

I did not need it for taking plab exam. For gmc registration, they did not ask me for this last year. They instead asked me to get my degree translated by their translator services. I am not aware if the rules would have been changed.

Also, a lot of things would have changed 5 years down the line :)
