How to multiply pineapple crown/top: from start to fruit harvest | from Dr. OBi's Garden (D.O.G) is a step-by-step easy guide for rapid multiplication of pineapples using the crowns or tops. The technique, known as the split crown technique can also be applied to pineapple suckers and slips. ***Additional notes:**
✓Fertilizer used: NPK 15:15:15 at a rate of 5g/L. Apply it once or every month.
✓Water the sections with regular water only when the surface of the soil is dry.

New Dr. OBi video!!! Only one suggestion, adjust the audio so it goes to both left and right channels, because right now it only plays on the right speaker/headphone :)

I had amazing success with your first video but a disaster happened. 48 cm of rainfall in 24 hours have destroyed half of my crowns. do you have advice on avoiding waterlogging? Please dr Obi you are my only hope 😭

Sorry to hear about your loss.... Unfortunately, there are not many options for your situation. One way to avoid waterlogged soils during heavy rains is to ensure you have drainage holes under the bucket and also use soil that has good drainage. Another alternative will be to cover the plant and soil with a big plastic sheet or bag right before or during the rain. Best wishes.

So do you get 4 or 8 plants from a single crown?

It depends on the crown. If it is big you can cut it into eight sections. Even with four sections, if you harvest the plantlets after 3 months and continue to take care of the sections, you can get more than four plants.
