I wish there wasn't such an animosity between the hardcore shmup players and the Touhou fans, as evidenced in a forum topic I saw recently. I personally enjoy both Ikaruga and Touhou, although I find Ika harder due to the bomb system. Furthest I've managed to get is a 1cc with Boundary Team on Hard. Marisa on Hard/Lunatic is evil with her wacky-hitbox stars of doom. @_@

i think that's probably because of the HUGE timing window in Imperishable Night.. I guess i got used to the huge timing window then.... but what i know that it's a heck of a lot easier to deathbomb in UFO

I think you're talking about Player Last Spells. If you get hit you have about 0.3 (0.8 in IN and always a little longer with Reimu) to hit the bomb button. It saves a life and lets rip with a slightly more powerful bomb (well, only in IN). For example Reimu's Spirit Sign 「Fantasy Orb」 is Divine Spirit 「Fantasy Seal -Blink-」

Death Bombing just takes practice but I must agree with you on PCB. I can't seem to time it right ether in that one but when I play Imperishable Night I get the timing a LOT more. Maybe there are projectiles you just aren't used to seeing coming at certain directions that get you more often then others.

Fighting Marisa is so fun! I hate doing Stage 5 Uncanny. Fighting Reimu is annoying. I can't even perfect against Reimu on easy, lol.

I've always had a harder time against Reimu, most likely due to the pace of her attacks. I don't understand the animosity either, particularly because (though I'm better at bullet hell games) I love shmups.
