“Draconian, Cruel And Badly Thought-Out!” | James Melville SLAMS Sadiq Khan’s ULEZ Expansion

London mayor Sadiq Khan accused the Government of “weaponising air pollution” ahead of his expansion of the capital’s ultra-low emission zone (Ulez).
In an interview with the PA news agency, the Labour mayor said he was “disappointed” at the lack of Government support for the policy and its accompanying scrappage scheme.
From Tuesday, the Ulez will be expanded to include the whole of the capital, making it the world’s largest pollution charging area.
People who drive in the zone in a vehicle that does not meet minimum emissions standards are required to pay a £12.50 daily fee or risk a £180 fine, reduced to £90 if paid within 14 days.
Commentator James Melville tells TalkTV’s Kevin O’Sullivan that the ULEZ expansion is “draconian, cruel and badly thought out.”
“Labour have got the election in the palm of their hands if they want it, but they are seeking almost any way possible to destroy their own chances.”
Some opponents of Ulez expansion claim the policy is aimed at generating money for TfL and criticised the mayor for introducing it during the cost of living crisis.
But Mr Khan said: “I am quite clear in relation to the evidence I have seen that the consequences of air pollution is heartbreaking when you have spent time with a bereaved mum.
“It’s really heartbreaking when you get an in-patients ward and see the consequences of air pollution, but also it is inspiring to see that some of these policies can transform people’s lives.”

Yep, killing babies and stunting peoples lungs at the same time. And of all the lame interviews i've watched with dictator Khan he never gets asked this and never really gets grilled. I would seriously like him to gets asked this but he would have a slick rehearsed reply ready to shut you up because he's right and you don't know what your talking about. Email that point to City Hall and see the generic bot letter you get back. No ones listening. Especially shorty.

The trouble with ULEZ, is other places in the UK will try to adopt it, which could mean poorer people who can't afford new cars will not be able to get to work or even go shopping in the bigger supermarkets because of the expensive and poor public transport outside of London. This country is definitely going down hill fast.

If it was about clean air, the penalties for non-compliance would be £thousands. It is actually yet another means of fleecing motorists. We already pay for emissions in our car tax. There is a threshold in the MOT. We also pay per mile in fuel duty. The political class has been emboldened by the meek compliance over covid. Expect even more tyranny soon.

There are too many things going on right now that have no explanation from government or media and are not being permitted any scrutiny. The free, non state social medial, now provides far more detail on current national and world issues than is being permitted on the state controlled media. Overall the impression is that the British state is indifferent to the safety and well-being of the British population and is failing to protect them from the machinations of foreign states and unelected global organizations. This country urgently needs a new political party with some sensible policies that people actually want and would believe in. Lobbying of MPs or political parties by financial, business and global organizations and foreign governments must be forbidden by law. Personal membership or support of any secret or unelected global organization (Freemasons, Bildebergers, WEF, WHO etc) must be forbidden by law for any member of the government, civil service or House of Lords. No irrelevant targets for global warming issues and no associated special taxes or arbitrary personal limits on activities. Even if there were any truth in global warming the contribution of the UK would be miniscule compared to the rest of the world. Termination of all foreign aid by the UK to all foreign states especially those that work against the UK economic and military defence interests. No limits on development of UK Oil and Gas resources and return of ownership of these resources to the UK taxpayer and economical energy security for the UK population. Criminalization of foreign power donations and financial support to political pressure groups in the UK. Failure to act on safety issues due to pressure from an authority to be criminalized for both the order giver and the order taker. No pandemic lockdowns ever again, and make compulsory vaccinations illegal. Investigation of the safety of vaccines and compensation for vaccine injuries and deaths. Prosecution of those responsible. Reduce taxes and reduce government expenditure and limit the size of government and civil service. Access to bank accounts guaranteed without arbitrary denial by banks. Absoludely no CBDCs ever. Absolutely no social credit system ever. No WHO vaccine passports and rejection of all WHO treaties and mandates unless debated by parliament and appropriate to real issues. Return illegal immigrants across the channel to France immediately. Do not permit them to set foot in the UK. Use the money saved from housing illegal immigrants to provide decent lives to the homeless currently living on the streets of British cities. Because unless things change the mood of the general population and contempt for political and police authority is returning to the 1978/80's levels. This will most probably lead to a wave of general strikes, riots and protest uprisings verging on revolution.

There is a product out there that has been proven to increase a vehicles MPG by a minimum factor of three but has been known to improve it by 6 times, that means a vehicle with an average mpg of 33 could be increased to 200 mpg. This product is an after market (DIY) unit but could be made by the OM companies. The system converts the liquid fuel into a gas and finally into a plasma which is almost 100% burnt in the engine with minimal exhaust gas compared to the current average of over 50% of the fuel input! It is called the GEET INDUCTION SYSTEM & WAS INVENTED BY Paul Pantone in the 1980's!

ULEZ "is" cruel. The people most likely to own and drive a non compliant car are the ones who can't afford a more modern, more expensive type. It's that simple. This is either a scheme to reduce the freedoms of the lowest income types or to reward the wealthier, more affluent types, who won't even notice ULEZ in their newer cars. It is so wrong. People who are struggling should be helped by TFL not punished. And this doesn't even consider all the low paid commuters who live outside London and commute in every day. They live outside London because it's cheaper. Shame on you TFL. Why are you adding salt to the wounds. It's just downright nasty and evil.

They want driverless buses to save millions on wages so thats why they need all the cars and vans off the roads. Bus only roads are the goal.

Pay per mile will leave London totally isolated. No business or services will go there and businesses currently there will leave. London will look like one of those fallen and shuttered up seaside towns.

Question does anyone know is it true, you can pay for an official independent “ULEZ” test, of your petrol or diesel fuelled and/or bi-fuelled ULP / LPG vehicle, costing around £172.00 to see if it is “ULEZ” complaint, Yes or No? If yes, why have the general public not told this months ago, it is only coming out a few days or just hours before the 29th of August 2023. How many Londoner, were force into placing their own so called “ULEZ” Non-Compliant vehicle, into the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s Scrappage Scheme, also maybe getting upto £2,000.00 if lucky. Did not know they could have their own vehicle, actually official independent “ULEZ” tested, to see if the vehicle “ULEZ” Compliant, or not and what maybe needed to make the vehicle compliant too it seems.

Should these signs be at positions that direct you to or away from entering the ULEZ zones? So you have a choice. From the ones I have seen they are at a point where you can't go back & must enter the zone... ensuring you pay!

How many hotels in affluent areas of London are full of migrants ? My town has 4 full to the brim and more are sneaked in every night and it’s like that all over northern England but I’m sure the ones living in London will be ULEZ exempt

Decisions that should be made based on momentum in society and general consensus are instead being made by little Kings and a compliant team of Jesters.
