The cast from the League of Gentlemen should do some real classic, gothic horror movies, Dr.Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Lot 249, Frankenstein, Dracula. They would be fantastic.

I've read Dracula countless times.... It's old, nonsensical in the modern day and very unscientific but yet,Dracula never ceased to amaze me...This novel is always the most legendary Gothic Horror ever...

How wonderful to hear a classic story told in an English accent not corrupted by American drawl and laziness.

I always love the cameraderie of Dracula's opponents. I wish there was more of that so called "old fasioned" in this modern world

Imagine hearing this when it was first published and the name Dracula had none of it's 20th century pop culture baggage, what sort of man must the name Dracula have conjured in the imaginations of the early readers, certainly not the man who inhabits our own modern sensibilities.

There's also an excellent audio version with Tim Curry as Van Helsing, Simon Vance as Johnathan Harker, and Alan Cumming as Seward. HIGHLY recommend.

This reading is rather good, but the Dracula reading by Robert Powell, produced by the BBC in 1992, is much more excitingly performed! Unfortunately, this Robert Powell reading is not available on the Internet and the audio cassettes from the BBC are also no longer on sale. It would be great if someone could also upload the Dracula reading by Robert Powell on KZbin.

Great performance but, I would've picked a chapter more "representative" of the book as a whole.

The passage just as a piece of litertature, written by Stoker of the carriage drive through the Borgo pass and the suspense he creates has never really been captured on film.
if only your tv version was as good as your narrative of this amazing book.you had an amazing cast but changed it so much..such a shame.it could have been better than the 1977 version the only version to date that comes close to the novel on film.you as a a fan of the novel i really dont understand why you strayed so far from the original sauce..i really do not understand why you had the chance to film a true masterpiece and then completely ruined a classic story with so many changes..such a waste

@ Keith Agree ! Why the BBC ever decided that Gattis was to be the face of Horror and self appointed authority on M R James etc I cannot grasp. Along with Moffat they ripped off every episode of The Twilight Zone and 1950s B Movies and rehashed them for their version of Dr Who. Thankfully the latest incarnation is tanking so badly that it will be mercifully put out of its misery . Great job BBC..

Its a shame the recent Dracula on the BBC sucked so bad. Kinda like everything Moffat and/or Gatiss touch. Sherlock and Doctor Who deserved so much better. STOP GIVING THESE MEN TV SHOWS!

The BBC Dracula was a daring effort that started really well with a terrific first episode with great acting. The second episode was enjoyable but I felt the third episode was a failure. But when people try and create things we should not expect perfection.

@ satasya Apparently Dr Who viewing figures are going down the pan. Presumably they ran out of plots by other writers which they could plagiarize ? Either that or there were no boxes left to tick !
