The Daymare scene is one of my favorite parts of this hilarity of Dracula really enjoyed the ironic gag though in truth a vampire can move about by day even though they prefer not to.

In the original novel, Dracula can move about during the daylight but his powers are weakened. The "Burning in Sunlight" weakness didn't come until much later with F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent film Nosferatu which became the pop cultural osmosis of vampires (and Dracula himself) eversince then. Of course this film is a parody of the 1924 stage play by Hamilton Deane that Bela Lugosi's film is based on which has less to do with the actual novel itself.

Convinced by the thought that vampires can only go out at night, to me, this was one of those first times I managed to see what would be if Dracula, actually, could be able to walk around even during daytime without being hurt by the Sun. This is fantastic to see, at least, until Renfield appears on scene to remind him of his weakness and 'ruin' (?) his dream. I must thank you for clarifying to me that vampires can ALSO go out during day. Curiously, I happened to remember that on the Hotel Transylvania films (as stated on the first film), sunlight doesn't seem to be imminently fatal to vampires, as Drac only suffers abrupt burnings on his body when trying to bring Johnny back with Mavis, adding that vampires (at least on these films) can regenerate from these sun-induced burns.

@@SagiVTamer7287 I highly recommend reading the original Dracula novel and any Vampire literature that came from the 19th century like Carmilla for example which you'll get your vampires walking in the daylight there. Matter of fact the earliest known vampire literature from the 19th century being Polidori's "the Vampyre" and Varney the Vampire, vampires can pretty much pass off as normal human beings who can be killed through ordinary means but the light of the full moon always resurrects them.

No, they can't. Vampire(vampyr is how it should be pronounced) is a demon from Serbian mythology, every granny here some 50 years ago could tell you a lot about them :) One thing is fore sure, they are night demons, and after they hear the first rooster "singing" in the morning the vampire will rush to his shelter, even if it's dark.

I enjoy this movie but always hated that they had Dracula harmed by the sun, which does not happen in the book. He is slightly weakened and can't transform or anything, but he can walk in the sun just fine. That's why I want to bitch slap so many so-called "vampire purists" who act like vampires should be hurt and die in the sun, because none of the original vampires lore and stories ever had them bothered by the sun. That was a purely movie invention. So as much shit as people talk on Twilight vampires, they are actually closer to "true" vampires than most other vampires in that aspect (minus the sparkling part, of course).
