Yeah there’s a surprisingly significant amount of medicine in dermatology, especially if you really want to focus more of your practice on it.

I’m really glad I found your channel since I’m trying to get into the field of medicine and specially dermatology. But after hearing from a lot of people and seeing many videos of people saying how much they regret going into med school, is there any advice you have for students like me since right now I’m berly getting my AA in community college and doing high school at the same time and I’m still insure about medicine even though I wouldn’t see myself doing anything else. Anyways thank you for your time and keep uploading these videos!! Good luck in med school!!
@DrAdnan
@DrAdnan 5 жыл бұрын
LlorosHD Thank you! Medical training is really tough in many ways (volume of material, psychological stress, not enough time or money, etc), but if you really want it and cant see yourself doing anything else, there’s usually a way to achieve your goals. You just have to work on your study skills to find effective strategies and work very hard. I’d recommend trying to shadow a few doctors to see how their days are and what they do firsthand before committing. I’d also recommend looking into things like finances, lifestyle, etc to see if the med student/doctor situation is what you want to deal with. Even if being a doctor doesn’t end up being the best option for you, there’s plenty of other great careers in healthcare like optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, nursing, physician assisting, etc.

Great content! I’m hoping to specialize in derm so this was wonderful information. What is your bachelor degree in? Do you have any recommendations in what to study before Med school?
@DrAdnan
@DrAdnan 5 жыл бұрын
Lizzie Ann Thank you! It was one major called neurobiology, physiology and behavior. Degree wise? I’d probably recommend a physiology degree since that covers all the organ systems and how they function. In terms of efficiency, if you do a degree that’s more basic science like chemistry you get a lot of finer details that aren’t as high yield for med school and if you do something more specialized like immunology, your miss out on a lot of the other areas of physiology, pathologies etc. Human physiology is a nice nice mix of macro/micro and breadth that gives you good overlap with med school (and often has options to take a class or two in immunology, biochem, etc)
@elizabethann4279
@elizabethann4279 5 жыл бұрын
Adnan A Thank you for responding!I’m happy to hear your input! I was considering physiology already so this has helped with my decision process! I’m excited for your next video! 😁
@DrAdnan
@DrAdnan 5 жыл бұрын
Lizzie Ann No problem! If you have other interests you could do something else as long as you cover premed reqs for med school, but I feel like doing a degree like physiology has overlap that makes everything a little more efficient/easier in med school. Thanks, hope you enjoy it!
