@@realdragonreally the only male ants in a colony are elates that leave the nest once a year to mate with female elates of another colony. all worker ants are sterile females with the exeption of a few species like the indian jumping ant where any female can become a queen.

I think “heads” is a unit of distance. 1 head is probably the distance of one ant. More heads means that the ant you’re searching for is further away.

This game and Empires of the Undergrowth got me so interested in Ants I actually started keeping them. I currently have two small colonies, Messor Barbarus and Camponotus Singularis. Love my babies!

I also remember him announcing/advertising some service where you can buy ants from your local area (foreign ants are bad since if they get loose they can wreck the ecosystem)

I always loved ants. Had a colony when I was a kid. Then last year I had a colony living in the ceiling above my bed. Now they're KOS, right up there with ticks, mosquitoes, and fleas.

Hi Drae, you gave me great advice a few years ago about BMG I'll never forget: "Why don't you just buy the game and if it doesn't run on your pc, just get a refund." I'm surprised you didn't add "duMbA$s!!" but you're more refined than that. It was something so simple I hadn't even considered because in the real world I don't buy things and return them unless broken. You know how there's a culture of people who "rent" things, returning them after done using them one time like a furniture cleaner or even clothes? That's a part of why things are so messed up. But with Steam it's not that way at all and with you pointing out the obvious, I was able to play BMG after all. Also the other ant game too but that one I did refund.. I liked it but am too old to memorize the controls and key functions to really have much fun, and it was stressful as well in it's own way. Like all my other games, even GTA franchise, I enjoy sustained peace for longer periods of time than 5mins, not always under attack with timed "waves" (San Andreas is only exception, that was fun) or like it's Space Invaders, just waiting for the inevitable (death or game over) vs creating a huge empire to truly go out and conquer vast areas of land maybe including a whole continent or else a good sized island. Have said this before and will say it again in this painfully long post: Drae - I don't know how you pick all these games up so fast, but I sure think it's an incredible trait or skill to possess. Two thumbs up. I'll go ahead and buy this at Christmas, and if too complex, I'll just return for refund within an hr of gameplay. Easy peasy. Drae you tha man. I'll never regret subscribing to your channel. The squirrel suit you wore for the ads to shave your balls (and who even does that? Only the ads by the company were pushing that idea or agenda over and over on yt, hahaha and everyone was scammed into thinking that's what girls like today when in fact they're horrified by it LOL) almost did you in for me.. but I am also a forgiving person too. Mans gotta eat and food isn't free.

This game should have a survival mode. Where you can just explore without commanding the battles. Find food and hunt weaker creatures, use stealth to sneak around stronger ones. The game is cool as is, but to me, the best part looks to be when you get to just wander around.

Probably would never happen but Drae mentioned something I've wondered about for years. Could a tornado pick up like a tree stump that has an anthill underneath it and take it you know... Miles away... And drop it on the ground undamaged in a new area? Imagine how weird that would be for the ants if they had consciousness. The big wind storm comes and suddenly your house is shaking but you're hiding protecting the eggs then it stops and you go outside and your essentially on a different continent basically lol.

I think that the heads thing was a distance thing, like heads instead of feet, as ants have points on the end of their legs while having large heads. Just a guess thou.

No, it... it totally is. Drae even showed that, elbeit briefly, because he checked, walked forward a bit, checked again and the didplay was lower. He just never thinks about stuff like that and then just says whatever random thought he has at the time instead of verifying it (which is a really simple test)
