you forgot to upgrade your generator to be able to use the steam as warmth/fuel. there was a research for it which you unlocked but didn't actually place on the generator

The reason you were so scatterbrained and forgetful probably had something to do with how you kept speeding up time to the max. You'd want to do something, then you'd go do something else, and next thing you know 50 weeks have gone by. Case in point: 2:20:30. I was tearing my hair out that you just needed to read the option below that to repair the furnaces.

Whiteout are not nearly as bad as they were in the first game, in the first game it's the final test, it's existential, in this game it's more like a natural disaster, still bad but probably won't kill you
