Dear Professor, It is interesting to think of power factor correction as capacitive load 'assisting' the EMF. This is in addition to the idea of less inductive reactive current needed to be supplied from the source to the load as in power factor correction and thus less I^2 R losses in the line delivery and thus less I R drop. I always thought of pf correction as the later two reasons. That is because of my lack of electrical machine theory. Being a systems guy I have always struggled with machines :) Thank God for your videos and the time you have taken to explain ! God bless you !
