We need a 5 someone to rebound,set picks, and catch lobs.We have a 4 with J Jackson, Brandon Clark,Santi Aldama, and also GG Can play the 4 if needed.I wouldn't mind if we get 2 bigs.1 in the draft and 1 in free agency.

I've gone back and forth and have a list of 10 or so 1st and 2nd round guys I like, lol. But I'm with your line of thinking: if Holland is there at 9, take him. Don't waste the 9th pick on a big, acquire a vet wing and big through free agency. A nightmare would be the Grizzlies trying to go the cheap route, like you mentioned, and then drafting Cody Williams. I saw one comp for him that said shades of Ziaire. 😨

I've come around on the positional scarcity argument for getting Holland, but the two things that worry me are 1) the track record of the first 2 yrs of almost every Ignite player, and 2) the assumed crunch on GG's minutes, who's likely better positioned to help us in that window anyway

anyone we take has a low probability of stepping up and helping right away. I don't mind the overlap of GG and Ron theoretically cause i think they can both play 2-4, and the more the merrier. but i hear you

I could definitely see Holland II being the pick for the Grizzlies at 9 and tbh Smart for Lopez is not A bad trade at all I would look into that trade if I was in the Grizzlies FO

I also think acquiring a tall wing who can defend, and preferably shoot, will be our top priority next season. They will probably try starting Smart. I'm not sure it's gonna quite work. And when they realize that, they will move Smart to the bench and look for a good wing to start. Maybe a Deandre Hunter, as you said. I'd also be really interested in Cam Johnson.

These next two years do feel like the window is fully open to get a 🏆. Glad you said "see what you have in this roster to start the season". In poker terms, end of season was the flop, draft will be the turn, free agency is fourth Street and the trade deadline will be the river. 😂 Draft Edey at 9 Restructure Luke's contract Sign a starting MLE center in free agency Maybe that wing with size. I'm also ok with trades as long as we get bigger up front, sharper shooting while maintaining defensiveness

The Hawks extended Okungwu a while back. My thoughts are that the Hawks will keep him and move off Capela as planned since last season.

because of positional need. luke kennard playing takes minutes away from ja, desmond, marcus, and vince. dorian finney smith can play alongside ja/des/marcus without sacrificing defense

Why not trade Ziare Williams, Santi Aldama, and John Konchar plus picks for Dorian Finney-Smith and Day'ron Sharpe instead of trading a shooter that the grizzlies also desperately need in Luke Kennard? Everyone keeps acting like floor spacing is not an issue for our team too.

That’s a creative salary match, I personally would prefer another season of Santi over Luke I also may be stubborn but I don’t think the grizzlies desperately need Luke Kennard with ja, des, Marcus and Vince

Let's start with. 1. Dayron sharp is undersized. Whats the difference between him and Trey Jemison 2. Dfs is a good player but is only really a better defender than Santi at this stage. 3. Luke is our best shooter.

@@ek1743 that’s the whole point lol Dfs does the same things Santi does but with better defense. Santi doesn’t even seem to care on the defensive ends sometimes. Plus Day’ron sharpe is better than Trey Jamison in my opinion

And then smart for Lopez?!?! Lopez will turn 37 YEARS OLD NEXT SEASON?!?!? No way does he last two seasons! Smart has 7 years left and still good basketball. I just do not understand your logic? It’s so wild and dramatic in its undervaluation of Memphis players and odd overvaluation of other players Ja, bane, Jaren are average 25 years old. GG, Vince, Clarke, kennard average about the same. The Grizzlies have a much longer horizon than 2 years. Actually, they are too young still. I know you are 10x smarter as it pertains to basketball than I, but i always hear your takes on trades and am left dumbfounded.

i didn't say to trade a 1st rounder for DFS, although apparently that is what our front office offered for him last season which grizzlies players am i chronically underrating? DFS has more trade value than Kennard
