Hi Mandi, you may already know this by now, but authors can get author copies of their paperbacks from D2D for the base unit price, which means if the printing cost is $4.95 that's what an author pays for their author copy. Not sure why you paid $30.00.

I just want to say a huge thank you for doing these kinds of videos. I haven’t started the publishing phase just yet since I’ve only just finished the first draft of my book, but I am SOOO glad I have videos like yours that I can come back to in the future and use them to help me with publishing. Thank you for all the hard work you put into making these videos! 😊

Thanks for doing these videos, they're really helpful! I wonder if the 3-month wait was because of this paper shortage I've been hearing about?

Unbelievably outdated review. The quality of the printing is exceptional, and the delivery and packaging are outstanding. Of some dozen deliveries over the last year, I have not had one book damaged or late. Compared to Amazon, which never packages books correctly - always in empty boxes - every delivery has been late, and every delivery has come with all or some books that had to be returned because of damage. They cost me a lot of money with cancelled bookshop promotions because I had to return books, or they did not arrive in time. D2D is brilliant.

Excellent proof unboxing and quality review. 3 months for a $30 proof copy, wow!

Thanks for sharing this. I uploaded a book to the beta but I wasn't willing to spend the $30 US in Canada to get the proof. 3 months is far too long and 30 is far too much. Really enjoying your channel

Thank you for this unboxing and review! I just uploaded my book from Smashwords to Draft2Digital a few weeks ago, and after your video today I’ll skip the paperback for my book and just use other pod publishers for my paperbacks😊

I’ve been enjoying this series! Do you know if draft to digital is planning on offering wide distribution like Ingram?

I believe so, but I don't know the details behind it.

I’m using D2D. My only complaint is that my proof copy took about 2.5 weeks. Not completely thrilled with their app generated back art. The cropping is too close to the edge. I need to upload new artwork that includes the back too.

They do use Ingram Spark’s printer. I had a delay but no where near three months. Sorry you had to wait so long.

First, thank you so much for sharing this video! I was really worried about what kind of "matte" cover they might provide. However, because I saw so many comments saying US$30 for a proof is insane, I have to share my experience. I went with a fairly well-known, Canadian printer (Marquis) so I could pick up my books (shipping is always so expensive). They wanted to charge me CA$250 for a printed proof copy so...I'd take the US$30. Their prices per book were about comparable to what D2D is showing me in their print book calculator, so I'm interested to see how they do. I think the only thing that'll kill me is the shipping, ha! It also took Marquis three months to print the books, an extra month over their estimate due to paper shortages. They did a great job on my books, but Draft2Digital's prices and timeline are pretty good (or at least standard) by my experience so far. I may give them a try for my second print run. Thanks again for the video and hope you have a lovely day!

I didn't have it take 3 months, but I did have them duplicate an order last year. It said one mailed out and I didn't get it for a month so I contacted them and they reprinted the books and shipped out another set and I got both the same week.

Is it allowed if I can use Draft2Digital for ebook (wide distribution) and for paperback can I use Amazon KDP?

Holy crap, $30?! That’s ridiculous!! I’m so bummed bc I was really hoping D2D might be a good paperback preorder replacement… bummer!

Right? I'm hoping things only get better with time as they work out the kinks for their beta phase.

My first proof I got within a month. Images were too grainy. Make sure your embedded mages are 300ppi. My second proof copy has been a month so far...but I ordered it Dec 20, to verify the changes. Still Waiting though.$30 is an acceptable price. It was shipped within 4 days UPS with tracking.

D2D tells me that once it goes to the printer, they have no say, no updates. Its been 2.5 months now, and no proof book...a label was made up a month ago. disappointed.
