Drafting Operations

A steady supply of water is one of the biggest challenges our firefighters have to manage on fire scenes in our District. While we cannot control where FGUA installs water hydrants, we can maintain our supply of water on a fire scene through water drafting. Water supply is one of the factors in determining our community’s Public Protection Classification (PPC), which insurers use to calculate premiums for fire insurance. Proving our proficiency in drafting operations is one way we are working to lower the ratings of all residences within a 5-mile radius of any of our departments.
