The book “Vènus Noire: black women and colonial fantasies in nineteenth-century France” by Robin Mitchell is something you might wanna check out. She’s a professor at my university, she’s currently on sabbatical, but her approach to this subject reminds me of what your talking about. Ps, as an undergrad History major I love your videos!
