That song is one of those classic story records and that fact that he wrote it in a hour and half is insane. True lyricist, RIP DMX!!! One of the GOATs of rap no question.

yooo, beautifully said brother. Been wanting to describe the eery feeling and goosebumps I get immediately when I hear the “uh, Def Jam” and you hit it on the nail. I feel like the song speaks to both parts of my soul, the dark and the light, when otherwise usually in life one part is dominant and they just switch control between each other. So because they’re both awake, I can be aware of the darkness and use the light to make it surrender control.

The fact that he wrote such a detailed descriptive song in less than a couple hours clearly shows he was channeling something to come up with it.

Yeah, he was channeling childhood and addiction pain. If u read up on his life story, and even if you’ve gone through similar struggles, you would understand how sometimes the pain wants to speak and it’s up to you to give it its channel.

Different part of the brain. Singing/Rapping use different parts of the brain, so you can rap/sing without a stutter no matter how bad you stutter when you speak. Another example is how an artist with a thick accent can sing/rap without you hearing the accent at all. It’s remarkable, really.

"Drag-On Speaks Wit' A Stutta, But I Rhyme Well So Like A Dead Snitch, It's Hard To Tell..." I had a stutter growing up & I went through some dark times. Mine comes back every now & then but I just do my best to talk in a rhythm & remain calm.

Lol we ain't going sit here and act like X was not playing in the devils playground, there is full truth to what he meant (as far as making a deal with the devil) in the Damien songs. To many artists say similar things in they music. Of course u can't literally sell ur soul to the devil. But it's a metaphor, u live ur life in the way the devil wants, (which is not the way the true god wants) and u worship the devil and in return u get the things he gives u. For as long as he wants to keep giving...

@@beverlymahaley6234 You can literally feed yourself with 5 dollars if you don't have 5 dollars then you can wash someone's windows for five dollars and then go eat. My point is just that no one in America is forced to rob in order to eat. There are 100 ways other than robbery to make five dollars and buy some food.. If you are too lazy then there is even food banks giving food away for free so don't come here acting like some people in New York are forced to rob people just to eat cmon get real..
