@@AC-bk1jg 1) it was the 2000s 2) Tina Fey's Humor is a lot about taking things that she knows are offensive and then making a joke about it. In Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, she has a white actress play an indigenous woman pretending to be a white woman who takes down the Washington Redskins, she has Kimmy fall in love with a Vietnamese guy named Dong who laughs at Kimmy because her name means "penis" in Vietnamese (not really), she has a gay black man do a one man show about his former life as a Geisha then get boycotted by Asian Americans for cultural appropriation only to start crying and think it's a beautiful play when they actually see it.
@beefy74 Жыл бұрын
@@tyriaxepheles7996offensive humor doesn’t mean above criticism (same with something being old). she has some serious problems with reinforcing racial stereotypes through her work. i was a huge kimmy schmidt fan in middle school, but now i can’t even watch it without cringing. dark humor is meant to have a deep understanding on social issues with a comedic spin. i admit, i find the native american plot funny, but there’s a deep disdain for asians throughout her whole body of work. she really likes making fun of asian people and making fun of asian names, it’s literally in this movie. cheyenne lin has a whole video about her thoughts on tina fey, if you care.

My school gave us a panel of seniors some of who had sex and some who hadn't. They shared their stories and reasons for their choice. Then, the teacher left the room and we were allowed to ask them anything we wanted. We also had an interactive lecture about how important consent is and full discussions about STDs and how they can be contracted. Our gym teacher was gay, so she even addressed gay sex. It was great. It was 2002 and it was an all girl catholic school. I continue to be shocked at how good we had it.

You can tell Katya was a Goth when she was young. The way she talked about the Plastics pretty well sums up the way most of us Goths felt about the "popular" people in general. To us, they were the losers. And to be fair....at thirty five now, the popular people I grew up with have not disappointed in the assessment young me made of them a century or so ago. 😉😂 Also, Trixie talking about her mom picking her up from school hit home for me. Replace the cigarette with dip hanging out of her mouth and a housecoat with clothes that had bleach spots all over them and it was my childhood experience. You gotta move fast to jump in the vehicle when the breaks don't work for sure. Good times. 😂😂😂
