I own a 2010 Diesel Punto that is in pristine condition. Except for regular servicing i haven’t spend much money on it. It’s engine and transmission is made like a tank and is rock solid. After 10 years and 115000 kms I still get about 18 km/l in the city and 22 km/l on the highway with proper driving of course. The driving pleasure after 2000 RPM is just unbeatable. We bought it brand new and honestly I like it’s 1st generation original minimalist Italian design better than it’s highly dramatised 2nd generation design. Except for the cosmetic changes it’s pretty much the same car. Definitely one of the most beautiful cars Indian roads have seen. Just love the car !

Honestly the polo was quite close. The only reason why the abarth was pulling ahead was its 30 bhp advantage. Its a shame that the gearbox offered by fiat was so poor, a hatch with those specs should do a far better 0-100 time.

Even today, tata harrier,tata safari, mg hector, gloster are power by fiat engine, but they are not selling vehicles in india. Fiat is to be blamed, not customers . They are making large profits every year

No Hatchback in India can beat the Abarth Punto as on date. Fiat always used to manufacture car for ride quality, handling and road grip. Even Fiat had entered with Palio 1.6 petrol of 100ps power in India with Sachin Tendulkar as brand ambassador where VW brand have not even entered in India. Those who knew it they know what is Fiat actually for.

Abarth Punto has a bigger 1.4litre, 4cylinder Turbocharged petrol engine bro unlike the Polo TSI with a 1.0litre, 3cylinder Turbocharged petrol engine, so it was quite disappointing to see the Abarth struggling to win. And yes the Polo provides better build for a cheaper price for it's engine compromisation.

Only reason punto lags behind is the tyres.. put on sticky 205 on the front stock alloys and polo will see smoke from the beginning.. stock 195 apollo are a joke in first and second gear.. and whoever is harping on about the polos well engineered lineage has clearly never tried the abarth

They were only in India for so long because they were happy selling engines to Suzuki. Their after sales service and poor gearbox ratios had them beat by everyone Even now you see with about 30bhp advantage, that result wasn’t that surprising And don’t get me wrong. I own the Abarth Punto Evo Supersport (EU) There is a very tiny amount of cars out there which could smoke me that easily. My Abarth has 179 HP and 270 Nm Torque and it's quite stock. I need about 7,4 sec. From 0 - 100 kph. The Abarth Punto Evo is for me the best car existing in this world ❤ Even tough it's not the fastest one.

Abarth was was a great car but i feel before the end of current gen Mach 5 polo, VW should offer GT / high-line variant with 1.5 tsi 4pot 150hp motor from taigun line up with DSG or Manual respectively keeping in mind there trend with milking the Mach 5 gen and habit of offering more than 10 different engines up until now in Mach 5. I think that would be of the greatest and befitting fair well to a car which was exceptionally well built (Which can't be said for new Volkswagen & Skoda) , also it would be the best gift to the fans who have supported the Car for a decade now.

As an ex Fiat employee, i can say that, the company was never been loyal to their customers, they produce excellent cars ( could be the best seller if they wanted to) but never tried to provide at least average after sales service Once a guy came for service to our service center, instead of changing the viper blade, they replaced viper system Even the employee who loves the car, never wish to buy it Also, they stick on same cars, punto and linea Instead of giving new models, the fix some extra fittings on punto and launched as new model

Abarth Punto with 145 HP should have had 205 section rubber from factory. Sad tha Fiat shodded it with 195 section while 114HP/123HP Linea had 205 section tyres.
