The real wonder is how a 500 cid engine making 9000hp can survive even one run. Many of the explosions are due to hydraulic lock when the intake charge is compressed to a almost a liquid. So if the piston can’t compress the charge all the way, the heads and blower go “kaa-blooey”.

They make 11,500 horse power and an unknown amount of torque. So it's really amazing that they can get one run out of these engine's. They're life changing in person if you've never been around one you have to go to the drag races atleast once in your life. I'm going on 60 and I've seen all kinds of racing, but none will make you Jump and smile as much as Top Fuel dragsters and Funny car's. Every time I go I can't quit grinning for a couple of weeks.

they're solid blocks... no cooling in em.. hence theyre a 1 run thing...oh the heads coming off are from too much pressure in the cylinders and the bolts holding the head sheer... POOF LOL same with the blower. kinda like a back fire to excape a sealed system restricting it and continuously adding more... turbos dont do dat the fail other spectacular ways :-/
