From 1978 to 2007, I lived around the corner from Arfons' shop. When I worked nights, I was rudely awakened almost every day by Arfons hitting the afterburner on his jet engines. LOL! The explosion rattled my windows like thunder.

I met Art when I was a kid, at his shop in Akron. He was building the first Green Monster tractor puller. We went there to pick up my Uncles car, that Art was working on. This was the early 70's. Saw him many times at tractor pulls across Ohio. Along with Tim and Dusty Arfons. Thank you for posting this!👍

ART was the most fearless Man I had ever seen. I saw him ride an atv with a jet engine on it. It was at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan. He started from one end and barely stopped on the other side, otherwise he would have been crushed against the wall. He was definitely going 100+ mph. Talking about it isn't as scary as seeing it. The Man is a legend. GOD BLESS ART ARFONS

The man rebuilt a J-79 and balanced the turbine blades all by hand in his shop, got thrown from a 600mph horse then pulled tractors, that’s amazing. He was one of the guys that made Oh proud.

I could be mistaken, but wasn't it Art Arfons driving during a run at a Texas drag strip, with a crash that took the life of local news anchor Bob Gooding?
