The Bobcat looked like a reluctant kid having to leave summer camp who complained going there in the first place and it's the way of most machinery to get cranking once the hours/years add up. Nice to see Cody checking the road ahead and he also had long day too checking out things although there's always time for a bit of tug of war as well..🐾🐾

A former landscaper I know, built a trailer for his small Case dozer , I wish he still had it, I'll take pics of it. The trailer axle was the front axle from a Chevy Viking 60. Welded everything in place. Put truck tires on it, the deck was 2 I beams, mesh between the ramps, that single axle home made trailer carried that dozer for years until he retired..

I used to be super paranoid about my welds being perfectly prepped with perfect penetration. But after watching and listening to Andrew, I realized that for my purposes, a decent weld with minimum prep is fine for the majority of what I do as life and safety are not usually at stake with my repairs. I don't think he's ever had one fail and neither have I. If I need a weld in a critical area where someone might get hurt if it fails, I call in a pro. Cheers
@ConSeann3ry
@ConSeann3ry 2 жыл бұрын
You don't think a trailer jack is a critical weld? I mean, I get what you are saying, he welds over paint and rust all the time and they all seem to hold but really it doesn't take that much longer to just hit it with a flap wheel first. I don't really get it because usually he is going out of his way to make sure things are done right but with weld prep it's like he has never even heard of it.

Andrew I have worked around cable winches on dozers before. I just think you should know that keeping them dry if they are not being used regularly is very important. If you let them sit with no use for months then the engagement mechanism rusts so bad that the Winch will not engage or disengage. My experience mostly comes from gearmatic winches but I have herd hysters old winches have the same issue

@@AndrewCamarata yes, lube the cable on the D7 & your crane. Wire rope/cables are either fibre core or steel core & lubrication keeps them from prematurely failing. Use oil or grease. There's plenty of good literature out there on maintenance of wire rope. One book that I would recommend is IPT's Crane and Rigging Handbook, lots of good information in there.

Pro tip #7 With trailers I have the spare mounted to a new hub, makes for a easy and fast replacment, and you have a spare hub if needed. No need to remove the lug nuts. Thanks for the shows Andrew.

Can you explain further how it's easier to have a spare tire mounted to a spare hub?
@crzy11000
@crzy11000 2 жыл бұрын
@@RaspyOB174 You just take the spindle nut off and pull the whole unit off and replace with new tire and hub. Only one nut. It really would not be much less work because of all the grease you would have to clean up.
@ducewags
@ducewags 2 жыл бұрын
@@RaspyOB174 Mount the spare tire to the hub with the lug nuts, if you get a flat just remove the hub nut with the tire and replace the hub mounted tire on the axle. A simple quick tire change, and you have a spare hub if needed. I don't know how to make it more simple. 1 nut or 8-10 maybe 12 lug nuts.

@@ducewags Thanks man super appreciate the further breakdown. I would recommend that in this situation you would want to prepare your hub nut by removing it ever so often so that it's not rusted or stuck on. Could be difficult to remove if you don't have a breaker bar or impact with you on the road. Seems to be a common issue that hub nuts get stuck on and that trailer wheels can get very hot especially if not maintained.
