While scanning different areas I noticed a few scattered fish moving around. So I deployed the best tactic I know to see just how big they are. Its super fun when you put a plan together and it works out.

Both informational & inspirational video as always! I’ve been putting in the time lately and your videos have helped me to come up to speed on targeting catfish for sure! Last two trips for me yielded what I believe to be pre-spawn males. Some already had a few scars and were particularly dark, almost black in color. As you said in this video, I have a hunch those BIG FEMALES are right behind the males and will be feeding heavily the next few weeks. Keep the videos coming! 👍🏻👍🏻
@mickaburkhart14Ай бұрын
Thank you. Yeah I've never really timed the spawn just right in the last few years but I'm really trying to do it this year. And when you do man its alot of fun. It's when these fish will be there biggest.

Thanks Micka. My favorite time of the year here in TN - (Watts Bar area). Lake on the rise, water temps above 60, catfish on the move, skipjack and white bass plentiful, time to drag during the day and set up shallow in the evenings. I like those dragging weights, straight and noisy (only need 3-4 oz here). Thanks for the great info and content as always. I encourage your current subscribers to like and share.

Thank you I appreciate that. Yeah JBN can make down to 2oz so he can pretty much make what you need.

I thought with circle hooks that you dont need to jerk rod to set hook. Thank you for that video
@mickaburkhart14Ай бұрын
Yes with a traditional circle hook it's not recommended but with the wisker seeker triple threats you can also set the hook. It's more so I pop the board free and put pressure on the fish when I do that. Not necessarily setting the hook.

Great video . I am learning to fish for blue cats in tidal water . We usually anchor or spot lock . I would like to know more about dragging . I assume you only drag with the current direction ? About 1/2 the speed of the tide / current ? So your actually moving faster than the current is moving that way the planner boards will spread out ? Thanks for the information you put out in your videos . Im watching them trying to pick up tips & tricks .
@mickaburkhart14Ай бұрын
Thank you for that. But actually I drag against the current. That way I can keep the boards spread and also have the ability to creep up to the fish.
@1squirreldogАй бұрын
@@mickaburkhart14 o wow ok in thought that would be to unnatural of a bait presentation running against the current . Thank you i will certainly try that .

Another awesome video bud . Can you explain how you set up your drift sock. I use one as well but it looks like you are running some type of line around your moter from one back cleat to the other side then connect your drift sock to that. Does that let the drift sock slide side to side or am I looking at it wrong.
@mickaburkhart1418 күн бұрын
Thank you. Well no that's my big drift sock and I hook it to both sides of the back of the boat to keep it centered out the back. It is tied to the center of both lines. I hope that helps explain it. But i can definitely go over it in another video.

What size is your trolling motor? Just put a new Terrova 24v on my 1860 CC and hoping it will drag me up river as well, in slower current of course. Did my initial run on a lake today in heavy wind and did awesome .

Absolutely they are MadKatz rods. I use there S Glass rods in medium heavy. My favorite action. But i have a couple of my signature rods on the boat and the rest of their signature series rods.
