I am enjoying listening to these programs so much. It brings back great memories of listening with my grandfather. He sure did love Dragnet, he never missed it. The sound quality is exceptionally good . Thank you so very much for sharing these with us all.

Parley Baer plays Lee here. Such a wonderful actor. He played in many dragnets and also played Chester in the radio version of Gunsmoke. Luv this!!

Later adapted for TV as "The Big Barrette" {June 18, 1953}. Written by Webb and James Moser. Stacy Harris, a charter member of Jack's "stock company", appeared as "Frank Larson" in both versions.

Imagine the people who have to review digital evidence in cases involving children. Sometimes there are hundreds of thousands of photos and videos found and someone has to view and watch every single one.

Anybody know the name of the piano tune Gus is playing at 7:12 ? It's used in a few other episodes, it's a pretty piece.

Was one of their spomsors a cigarette company? They smoked so much in this episode, I could not breath by the end.
@D45VR6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I forget which brand. Jack Webb himself did some cigarette adverts. Back in those days some cigarette brands were even endorsed by doctors. That is a fact.

In October 1949, "DRAGNET" acquired its one and only radio sponsor: Liggett & Myers (initially, for "Fatima" cigarettes from 1949 through '52, then "Chesterfield" from 1952 through the last original radio episode in September 1955). When the series was rebroadcast [consecutive episodes from the 1952-'54 period] from September 1955 through February 1957, "participating advertisers" were featured, although those repeats tended to feature more PSA's and network promos.

Friday usually gave a cigarette to a suspect he was questioning, if asked. With the price of cigarettes where I live I'd almost go to friday for questioning just to bum a smoke!

@@rmedley22 "When you adjust for inflation she was making about $7 an hour if she was working a 40 hr wk." True, to about the point in time of 1974, and that income was raising families. Everything is 10 times the cost since then. Buckle up, I see a crash coming.

He knows how to eat an apple to get the guy who wouldn't budge for 'hours' to break down and confess. Just tell the suspect his coffee is getting cold and that apple eating, and he falls apart.

This guy was quite possibly a serial killer. I wonder if he killed any others. This is based on true events so I’m curious.

Stacy Harris, possibly the worst actor ever. Same one dimensional character.
@random-jj7ix4 жыл бұрын
Tf you talking about. Just because he may not have had much variety, it doesn't mean he was a bad actor. Some people are better at being good at less things than others. Supposing he was that way, it's better that he kept his character relatively the same in order to be good at that one thing rather than being bad at multiple things

Check out This Is Your FBI. Stacy Harris plays the lead, Special Agent Jim Taylor. He's very good in that role.
