I'm thinking this was burned off a bargain bin DVD, You used to be able to get them at Wal-Mart for $2.00 each and they had three or four episodes on them. I had one and they dubbed the music with the same annoying piano. It's because the episodes were in the public domain, but the music was still under copyright.

Friday carries a baaadge I carry a ghetto blaster and between sentences I play 2 or 3 seconds of shitty music It drives people crazy. They kicked me out of the projects and nobody in the ‘hood will talk to me. If you buy a piano I’ll come round weekends and play 5 second segments every minute or so while you’re cooking, eating, cleaning washing, watching TV, when you go out, when you come home a little burst of sinister low notes on the ‘pee-annah’

I began watching Dragnet in 1951, and at 9 years old, I was glued to the tube. I missed the last season. because in 1959 I had my first date and fell head over heels in love. Girls and nights at the hop replaced TV watching. Now, after 57 years of marriage, I'm back watching Dragnet again, and I love it. I did not realize until I watched this episode tonight that Sgt. Friday had gotten a promotion. Thanks so much for posting and shaking the dust off over a half-century of memories.

They say these are true stories, but I have a hard time believing there were that many stupid people who would hand a bunch of money over to some guy because he said he was a cop and had a badge and a business card! Also, they were talking about the 64-year-old guy like he was some doddering, senile old fool because of his age. I'm 64! I notice in these shows from only about 60-70 years ago that anybody who was in their 50s or older was considered quite the senior citizen.

I think in the 1950s ( and prior) people were more trusting of others. That hasn’t been the case for decades now. I don’t trust anyone and many others say the same thing. Lolol, I noticed the age thing too, back then over 50 you were pretty much considered elderly. I’m not sure what life expectancy was then, but it was not as high as it is today so 50 was older back then than it is today.

What year did the producers change Joe's rank to Lieutenant? They demoted him back to Sargeant in the Sixties incarnation. Just based upon his job's responsibilities as depictedbon television? I'd say that his basic demeanor was always more of an officer. Not a beat walking Sargeant. Just note the way that his fellows bow to his judgments and experience. He's more like a Lieutenant than se of the captauns.
