Every Navy SEAL has an interesting story. Drago’s story is just a tad more interesting than most. Two years in a Communist gulag in Poland, and then…he filled out a draft card and packed his stuff ready to go to war.
We hope that you enjoy Episode 3 of Inside the Team Room: U.S. Navy SEALs, with Drago, Shane, Mike Ritland and Brandon Webb.

Not a "hyphen American" I am an "American". Drago should speak at every high school in America and tell his story to these kids that don't understand how lucky they are to live in America and what sacrifices are made for the freedoms and way of life they have. A true American badass. TYVM for your service !!

Agreed. Kids today want instant gratification & must understand that freedom is, and never was free. Amazing on how the internet gives you endless knowledge cause back then….prior to the internet, the only info was a pamphlet or word of mouth. Navy seals on KZbin is such a treat. Future generations simply have it easier & hell, I wish them the best. Education is always the key & to think you can get a degree on your smartphone. Idk anyone that received a degree using a beeper, landline & the yellow pages 🤷🏻‍♂️ ( That would be impressive ) Jus subscribed & thank you 💯

I'm Polish, I was born in Poland, immigrated with my parents when I was three years old to Canada where we became Canadian citizens, then a decade later we moved to the US, where we also obtained American citizenship. I speak English, French; because we lived in Quebec, and I still speak, read and write in Polish. It just takes a little more effort with the reading and writing of Polish because I don't practice it every day. I'm going to state this "Drago" is not a Polish name, if anything it's Hungarian. No Polish parent would name their son "Drago." In addition this guy says he was in a "gulag." Poland never had gulags. After the Tehran Conference where the Allied Powers gave Stalin Poland and the Eastern Bloc, we were under Soviet control, but we still had Polish culture. Polish was the official language. It wasn't like the Baltic satellite states or the ending in "stan" countries like Kazakhstan. There were prisons though. All these ex Special Forces dudes lie or over embellish their stories like Marcus Luttrell who said he fought 200 taliban when Michael Murphy's Medal of Honor Citation only states 30-40 enemy combatants and after action reports stated no more than 17 enemy fighters in Kunar province, Pec district. On another note, the operation was called Red Wings, after the NHL hockey team the Detroit, Red Wings, Luttrell called it Red Wing. He also tried to have his savior Mohammad Gulab deported after Gulab said the movie was not accurate. Newsweek, the news outlet wrote an excellent story about this. Then there's Brittany Slabinski who left a Special Forces soldier, Sgt. John Chapman on a mountain and later cried because he was ridiculed so he also got a Medal of Honor. Sgt. Chapman was seen from a hovering ISR drone fighting for his life after he was left for dead for around an hour until his ammunition was depleted and he was overrun by bad guys. Let's not forget Chris Kyle and all of his lies.

Your're right - the Gulag was in the USSR - not in Poland. Drago is just using language his auduence will understand. The embelishments are for effect. I don't believe Drago is his real name, either. There's an online biography about the GROM, wriiten by a former operator and it's called Thirteen. In it the writer talks about Drago and joint operations that SEALS and the GROM conducted in Iraq. Worth reading if you can find it.
