If you ever find yourselve in stamina trouble you should have a look at the passive: Looked Like It Hurt. I find myself using the same skillset, except for the spinning blades, I got hooked on the hook and tackle and its upgrade. Its really nice against certain mobs that keep flying away and it really helped me against some dragons aswell, you should try it :3 Great vid btw, really enjoying your dragon age stuff

Jared Jeffers the only skills you really need to use are stealth, mark of death, flank attack, hidden blades. Go for as many passives as you can and the damage output is stupid.

The Assassin build also works amazing with a bow. The throwing knives and mark of death work at range so you can keep your distance while still doing massive damage. Plus hidden step is a great skill to have and I believe it takes aggro off the character.

this build is not "the best" Rogue build Edit: to be constructive here is the build I have found to be the "best" www.rpg-gaming.com/daisc.html?c=r&b=Rogue%20-%20Double%20Daggers&t3=12359ab&t2=36a&t0=123458ade&t4=12348ab&t1=27a&a=03113a20130d44154a603735 For some reason I could not chose the "Gaps in Armor" talent in the Assassin tree in this Calculator, but that should also be taken. This build requires Human, all 5 Amulets of Power for the Inquisitor and is complete at level 24. Please note that the talents chosen in the Archery tree might have been patched to only apply to Bows, I am unsure. When I first developed this spec the passive bonuses applied to Dual Daggers as well.

"Not the best" is understated! I dislike it for sure,- you deceive ppl showing them "EPIC" effectiveness of this rogue LVL 22 in location with mobs lvl 12-15 plus the difficulty level is not even Hard (that beasts couldn`t die from total damage 2-5k), which is pretty comfortable for casual player! Next thing, too many useless skills and passives: 5% chance of evade taken and finished with the branch -pff. whole branch is useless unless you take the last passive, Evade active skill is also must-have. Same situation with right branch. Poisons do really poor damage unless they are used with static cage, like combo: static cage + blizzard. There are also many other big faults in this "build", I just advise you to sit for 10-15 minutes and think about your build combining it with your party-members advantages. Assassin specialization has 2 ways to deal ton of damage: 1. by combining his "Mark" and maximized Alpha-strike damage from party 2. by maximizing hit`s per second with hidden blades not only skill, but also masterwork on every item your char. wears (artificer is the best for #2 way)

requires you/cole reaching lvl 27 and possibly two amulets of power (one for cole or if you are a human rogue inquisitor)... Dual wield tree flank attack + upgrade that takes you into stealth Dual fangs and its"vanilla" upgrade Twirling Blades and its "vanilla" upgrade Death Blow and "vanilla" upgrade Assassin Tree All Skills, Passives and "vanilla" upgrades except for the focus ability Subterfuge Tree Stealth with "vanilla" upgrade and the the two passives straight after it Sabotage Tree (for level 27 and power amulet(s)) caltrops followed by the next two passives you can replace the stealth upgrade with the mark of the rift passive if its your inquisitor and you want the bonus focus from combos, but in reality you dont need it as I find I only do the focus abilities on High Dragons and the final part of the final boss fight (main game) I say Vanilla because I only have Xbox 360 and the last DLC you can get for that is Jaws of Hakkon, so I have never seen/used the added upgrades Gear... 2 Masterwork Dual Curved Blades made from Dragon Bones (Schematic found in Hissing Wastes Burial Grounds Ruins) both with nothing but tier 3 Dexterity in the utility slots as for the masterwork slots one with 10% chance of 5 hidden blades (Fade touched Plush Fustian Velvet, found on Red Templars) the other with 10% chance of 4 Hidden Blades (Fade Touched Ring Velvet, found on Corpses (best chance of getting is in the Exalted Plains, dont light the fires until you get one or two depending on how many DW rogues you use in your party)) Dense Dual-Blade Grips with nothing but Tier 3 Critical Chance. Superior Skirmisher Hat (tier 3 or Dragon bone if you have 4 spare) use dragon scales (10 dexterity, 10 cunning) Superior Battlemaster Armor (use silverite as main metal, it removes the class restriction) put as much constitution on it as you can, with Sunder/Bleed when hit and a masterwork that gives you 5 guard per hit with... i pick the other first two steps on the sabotage tree: not for the spikes but the passive Look Like It Hurts in the stealth tree i don't use the sleep and go for the jump that is a great life saver when circled by a group of ennemies after you engaged combat. i also pick the passive left to shadow strike. Finally with a fade touched crafted armor that gives you +5 guard per hit, hidden blades becomes a 2 in 1 ability that makes you far less squishy (blades have the +10% chances of 5 more hits)

only skill i get in Subterfuge tree is Stealth (with or without upgrade), with the two Passives below it, I get everything but the parry in Dual Wield, everything but Cloak of Shadows in Assassin tree and any remaining points I spend in Sabotage via caltrops and its following two passives

Shadow of Cloaks? your normal focus ability as an inquisitor is much better. And Twin Fangs only from behind. i played as an assassin and my rotation was something like - stealth - Hidden Blade with upgrade - Flank Attack with upgrade to restealth - Twin Fangs - restealth - Deathblow if the hp is low from your enemy the only problem with Hidden Blade. it is buggy as hell.

i still cant work out if the stacking of the two different levels results in 20% chance of 9 attacks, 20% of either or 10% chance of 9. this is mainly due to my party having 2 dual wielding rogues, both of with have a dagger with the chance 0f 5 hits and the other dager with 4 hit chance, and a mage with 5 hit chance (all hidden blades), and a warrior whose get up is all about regenerating health on kills, hits and over time (to compensate for him/her not having the extra armour that he/she would get from a shield)

Wrapping up my second playthrough right now (I just have the final mission and the Trespasser DLC left). My rogue is a tempest, so my build's slightly different, but I'm also using double daggers, so there's a lot that's the same. For a long time, I was using deathblow in the dagger tree. It's particularly hard hitting when the enemy is at below 50% health, and there's an upgrade that eliminates the cooldown if you actually kill an enemy with it. Not so useful against bosses, but against large mobs, it's pretty awesome. My only problem with it is that it's a bit too situational to be effective as part of a regular build. So, here's my current setup for active skills (I don't remember my passives at the moment). 1. Stealth with the Clinging Shadows upgrade (stay in stealth mode for three seconds after giving or receiving damage) 2. Flank attack with the skirmisher upgrade (automatically enters stealth upon making the attack - the Clinging Shadows upgrade affects this) 3. Twin fangs (I have the unyielding fangs upgrade, but either one would probably be fine depending on your playstyle) ... and a number of other things (I'm on PC - we can have 8 active skills at a time, though a lot of them are situational. My typical strategy is to enter stealth, frontstab with twin fangs (rather than backstab) and get in a few free shots as Clinging Shadows wears off, use flank attack, then get another few free shots.

A thought - forsaking the poisoned weapons and spinning blades, and using those points instead on any available passives might help the build. I see a lot of people looking at passives for what they *do* - whereas the most important function of passives besides the constant buff is the permanent stat boost of +3 to relevant skills. Dragon Age builds have always been designed around boosting main stats to empower your character. But with your other skills in place, the question is simply, "which of these have synergy with stealth, and can capitalize on buffs given by the rest of my party"?

+Ninja Flips your gear would increase your stats faster than the passives i think. Like 1 cunning=0.5% additional chance crit: there's weapon schematics that can give you instantly 35% crit chance. Or with dexterity: the most i've seen on a rogue weapon -a bow i think- was +70% damage bonus, with dragon wings leather. So maybe the effect of the passive is more important than the +3 stat. I've started an Artificer archer and i'll use Cole as DD assassin (to see at least once how two rogues will do in a party ^^). The goal will be to make use of both my crits and his crits with opportunity knots, to reduce my cooldowns like crazy. If you want to use spinning blades, which is an AoE i think, using Rift mage Solas will be a plus to make sure enemies are grouped.

Personally i never did much damage with the shadow strike skill. The added skill on dodge is good because it makes you deal 300% of the enemy's damage to it when you dodge out of the way and I'm pretty sure that can lead to shadow strike too

Happypie due to that being a special customization thing you can get, there are 3 total per class but you can only have 1. you get them when you go to skyhold and i think on the right side of the war table there are a few missions that take 0 seconds to complete that unlock missions that give the skill customization and few other missions for a few other things for skyhold (no change on what person you use for missions- reward is always the same for the instant war table missions i think). to my understanding i think you have to be above level 10 to be able to get them and you cant pick your other team members special customization. hope that explains any questions if not i'm sure either myself or others could help

+Caldera Records The game is hard at the beggining, specially in nightmare with the customizable difficulty options. Can be a bit frustrating at first but It gets more managable when you start getting some levels and more skill options to deal with different situations. If you play a warrior i'd go for some guard to increase survivability (vanguard tree) or barrier if you play a mage (spirit tree). If you play rogue, hit from the shadows. You can always choose a companion to assist you with this so you leave the path open for the inquisitor to do damage. You can also spend some perks in the force section to increase combat performance. And remember that your stats increase with level, so as you level more life and more resistance.

I did the coastal level instead which was easier & now I have iron bull! I am a Mage, & my main tree types are fire & ice, though I have a few on the green spirit tree & electric. so ones going to mention that once he/she reaches lvl 16 they can farm silverite (and fade touched silverite) in the Emprise and create Superior Battlemaster Amror full of Constituition, max Health boost and the chance to cause his enemies to bleed when they hit him and that will also give him 5 guard every time he hits someone

I prefer a build with thousand cuts.. If done right you can kill the highland ravager dragon in 8 seconds.. you gotta have a bunch of other stuff on other party member too but still (if you're not content with your skill tree you can always find The Tactician's Renewal and duplicate that so you can respec all your members)

nope. There's a glitch where you have the item in the chest in skyhold. Move it to inventory and go back at the same time. if you time it correctly the item will be in your inventory and in your chest. you can duplicate it as many times as you want. This way you also don't have to spend a lot of crafting materials on weapons if you for example want 2 identical daggers

+Alexi Odom the best dagger is found during the Fairel tombs quest, in Hissing planes. Put as much Dexterity in these as you can cause you have a passive that automatically crits when in stealth, so stealth+hidden blades is quite deadly (even more with a +10% chance of adding 5 more hits with fade-touched materials)

That is due to the weapon he uses. I know this is very late but oh well :p.... His weapon has a area of effect on it, it's designed to hit multiple targets like a sword. Yours is probably just an ordinary dagger ;p

I dont use death blow either. Skill is strong early in game but later im like meh. Aoe Daggers (+Hidden blades masterwork) + A normal dagger. Flank attack, hidden blades, shadow strike, death mark and throwing blades is what i go for. And i try to max out cunning and dexterity. The sheer number of hits on my build land enough critical strikes plus they proc hidden blades passive. Dead bodies fall everywhere. < Thats a build focused on maxing crits and landing as many hits as possible. You really wouldnt want death blow to disrupt the flow would you?

i hit Corypheus (in the last stage of the fight)/any high dragon that survived my assassin/tempest combo of offensive armor potion + mark of death + thousand cuts with an upgraded death blow... it finished his fight/ killed them in seconds... just saying (and thats with just 3 attacks max and late in the game aswell)

I can tell you my build if you want? My Cassandra never rarely ever died in game o.o Tank builds shouldn't be a problem though even if you just randomly go for damage reduction abilities and guard max you should become pretty sturdy. Its the part where you have to keep team mates alive as a tank that gets tricky.

tank? who needs a Tank in this game? sure for the first part of the game (before you reach Skyhold) tanks are useful but after that you don't really need them... everyone of my warriors post Reaching Skyhold are Two-Handed DPS dealers, even on Nightmare mode

Interesting build, VERY different from my tempest dw build. I'm happy with my choice of specialization, but those throwing daggers and that mark of death look really freaking sweet. The spinning blades from the DW skill tree isn't as good as deathblow IMO. Deathblow does more damage if the enemy is a little hurt, and if you kill something it doesn't cost stamina or go on cool down. I wish I could use the poison ability but I have eight active abilities and refuse to part with most of them, although I'm thinking of swapping dual strike with shadow strike.

Bow Artificer, Throwing Blades + Leaping Shot = Dead dragons in 3 seconds. Throw Em' All mines = 50 plus blow you the fuck up bombs that kill everything. gg ez op.

Well the build is fine but when u are using aoe daggers only. Im using normal daggers and the spinning blades will not work so well with them. Important thing is that u are playin on Cale, my main is a rogue and it will be pointless to have 2 rogues in team. Anyway I love this game even when Im playin at low settings and ur DA looks way better than mine :D

Reaver (me)/two-handed Warrior (me or Cassandra or Blackwall, the AI is useless when it comes to using the Reaver)+ Dual-Wield Tempest (either Sera or Me) + Dual Wield Assassin (either me or Cole) + Rift Mage (either me or Solas) or Vivienne in any DLCs I complete after the main game if I'm not the Mage... no tank, just DPS it P.S I have had the Game since its Release Date and only Play on Nightmare

yes ok we all have own builds, but also always can be better and as in video text says best rogue build so if is not the best/max that is not the best, then change video text to medium or ok rogue build, :)
