Dragon Age Inquisition: Rejecting Companions

What happens when you reject the recruitable companions. Also Blackwall shaves his beard and Solas grows some hair...
But for real, since everyone keeps mentioning it, I thought I'd mention it here. I was just trying out some mods I found for my third playthrough and well, out of curiosity of what they would look like. It was like they were completely different characters. Weird how a beard or some hair can so drastically change a character! :o

Bruhhh I love how there's literally three options to accept Dorian and only one to refuse him. Like the game's hinting that you _might_ wanna take him in and _he might just pop up again later._ Though, that maniacal Magister laugh he does in Trespasser if you dump him is almost worth it... almost. You know, if you really think about it, technically none of the companions besides Cassandra Varric and Solas actually join the Inquisition in a strictly canonical sense, due to them being optional rather than mandatory companions. It makes me wonder if you reject a potential companion where they go off to or what other unseen adventures they’ll have if you choose not to recruit a certain companion.

For me, Cole and Dorian are key members I will always recruit and befriend. Blackwall and Sera are decent characters to have around as well. Vivienne is a pain but I generally have her too because I like balance in my crew. But I've gotten to the point where I just don't recruit Iron Bull anymore. Having seen firsthand his betrayal in Trespasser, especially when he was in a romance with Dorian, that's just something I don't want in my game anymore. And no, I didn't sacrifice the Chargers. It really just got to me how totally stupid it was to have an outright spy for a group such as the Qunari in my Inner Circle. And it had always bothered me how easily he could just turn his back on them for the Inquisition. Some might argue that it's a good thing but I see it as very troubling. He'd been with the Qun all his life. He'd been trained to be a liar and pass himself off as Tal-Vashoth to be better at his job. He'd even reached a point of losing himself and turned to the re-educators to "guide" him back to where he needed to be. Except even Coie, if he's with you, states he felt absolutely nothing from Iron Bull during battles and fights, as if he'd divorced himself completely from the act of killing living beings so that he could avoid the guilt afterwards. And that comes back into play in Trespasser when he turns on everyone for the Qunari and the Viddasala. It's just too cold, too calculated and even when he chooses to side with the Inquisition and the Inquisitor, it all feels temporary as if his ultimate betrayal is just lying in wait for the right moment. I just don't think I could ever trust him again. Oh and you can get him to betray you in Trespasser by avoiding his personal quest, Demands of the Qun altogether, not only by doing it and choosing to save the Chargers instead of the dreadnaught. So yeah, no more Iron Bull for me. Blackwall's lies eventual see the light of day and I have no problem giving him another chance to continue what he'd been doing for years, trying to atone for his past mistakes. Cullen's doing the same without lyrium. Cole's doing it by being more human and learning to deal with the real Cole's life. Vivienne continues to be a bitch but that's fine. Sera's just weird by funny. Dorian is fantastic and loyal as hell. Whenever my Inquisitor was in any sort of danger, he'd be the first to run up and see if I was okay and he'd always ask if I was okay after entering the Fade. No one else really bothered asking. Oh and Solas is a huge piece of shit. I'm fine with all that but no more Bull.

While it's great they give you the option to reject companions from a role-playing perspective, I have to wonder why they even bothered lol? It's not like you lose anything by having them join you, you're not even forced to take them with you on quests. I can't understand why anybody would reject a particular character when they'd be nothing but an asset, unless they just really hate that particular character I guess. Also aww Cole's is the most heartbreaking, he sounds like a kicked puppy!

people raging over Blackwall and Solas are so dumb. players can mod their characters how ever they want, it's just hair, it can change. especialy when you played the game 10 times and you want a change! the only reason Solas in bald in the first place is became devs didn't have time/skill to do his hair properly during production and didn't know how to handle it so they left him bold. in concept stages he has super long hair. do you think he was ALWAYS bald, do you think Blackwall never once in his whole life shaved his beard?? ridiculous comets. Also I happen to think Solas looks great with that mod. it's not like its long hair its literally just tiny scalp growth. aslo the Egg nickname is getting old.
