It's insultingly bad lol. If the master talent gave shapeshifter the ability to cast spells while transformed then it would at least have a niche use instead of utterly useless.

Bump your spellpower up to around 195, and use the swarm on human enemies. It shreds, but you can do the same thing with stinging swarm and still cast spells. Just no aoe dps like the form.

Shapeshifer class goes opposite of what a mage is ment to do,it scales on having health and damage not magic, personally I ignore it especially on Morrigan and build towards hexes and necromancy

I always build Alistair the same way. One of these 50 playthroughs, I swear I'll try him as a dual wielder. I keep hearing how much fun it is. Have you tried it?

Mage auto attacks that hit for like 150+ damage, wynne, and morrigan with shale as a buff bot.

The stat balance in DAO is a bit degenerate. E.g. constitution can be ignored completely on tanks. The usual minmax advice for tanks is to put all your points in strength until you can equip massive armor and afterwards either concentrate on dexterity (which especially on nightmare difficulty gives you more passive tankiness than constitution via the defense stat in addition to raising your attack stat) or split points +1/+2 or +2/+1 between strength/dexterity. But really the big jump in tanking comes when you get access to massive armor.

It has been so long but I ran a dex str dual handed warrior main, and kept Leliana as cunning bard. Wynn was win until Morgana hit 2nd specialization. I rotated the rest though Alastair at the end was a good complement to hold the line while I flanked.

Iirc one of the better spell combos in DAO was to buff your mage with I think it's called Spell Ward in the top row of the Spirit tree and then use Mana Clash to do even more damage. There's some other ones too but some are more trouble than they're worth like grease + fireball is a huge friendly fire hazard and blizzard + lightning storm takes to many talents and is underwhelming in the damage department.

I would drop death blow and the precise striking to max out the templar skills, I ran that build on Alistair and my Warden, Rally stacks from both of us, we were an unstoppable power couple. And that's how I met your father... I mean became Queen of Ferelden
