I'm a gamer and I've been one since I was a kid, but it's getting harder to find non-indie games that are not infested with this kind of stuff. As a result, I mostly play older games, (especially RPGs,) these days, like Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, KOTOR, etc. You do find newer gems, like Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, but they are fairly far and few between. I've been thinking about getting into D&D, since TTRPGs are kind of whatever you make them. Regardless, I highly recommend against pre-ordering, because that very easily opens you up to getting fleeced for a game you might not even like.

This is one of the last topics I would have expected Bojan to make a video about lol. If you like RPG video games I would like to strongly recommend Ni No Kuni 1 or 2 to you as great older games
@NavelOrangeGazerАй бұрын
Ni no kuni is awesome. II one holds up as well too. If you want an older Level 5 game play Dragon Quest VIII if you can get a PS2 emulator working.

You mentioned something about adding the Trinity to Dragon Age. I think that doing it in a raw manner would be stupid, but even then I think it could be done with some proper adaptation. Not that it *should*, mind you, but there is a lot of room for metaphysical lore in RPGs. Think of The Elder Scrolls: there is a whole cosmo-conception that is very reminiscent to that of Aristotle, mixed with more modern esoteric takes on the universe. The original Dragon Age lore included a character named "Andraste". You never get to meet her; she's actually a backstory character. Many people you meet throughout the game talk about her, and there's one common trait that these people have: they're all religious figures. Nuns, priests, or faithful laity. Andraste, as it turns out, is *clearly* inspired by Christiniaty. She is the "Bride of God", and though she is not exactly like Jesus, as she is not of divine origin, nor was born of a virgin, she is very reminiscent of a mixture of Western female saints and of the Virgin Mary. Furthermore, she had a man in her life who wanted to marry her, but then God stepped in. You as the player get to experience a vision of that man at one point as he expresses his frustration: "how can a man compare with a God?", he says. He was in love with Andraste, but God ("The Maker") took her for his bride, in a way that was clearly inspired by the story of Mary and Joseph. Dragon Age: Origins was such a lore-rich game. Damn I gotta play it again. It's a real shame what they've done to the franchise afterwards. I won't even get close to this Veilguard bullcrap.

Yeah, if it was me I would've revealed that the Maker and the Chantry's explanation for the darkspawn is actually true. Their lore is by far the best, much better than "elves did everything."
@NavelOrangeGazerАй бұрын
Even in Inquisition Cassandra mentions Andraste quite a bit. I know people don't like II and Inquisition as much as Origins but it was still miles better lore wise than the new one that just dumped all the lore for self insert characters.

When a game made by guys living in a literal warzone is better than one by the largest publisher in the US its time to stop.

Can't even trust waiting on reviews at this point as many early reviewers were paid off (or strongarmed) into writing florid glowing reviews, even when it was clear the game just sucked. Wokeism aside, the game was just awful and unplayable.
