The Grounds keeper is a Mini boss. I expect it was put there to "Protect" the dead in the crypt.

I prefer resurrecting Manfred. Not only because I get my Rock, Paper, Scissors partner back but It show Emmrich that he is much braver than he thinks and helps him face his greatest fear.
