I'm glad Heroes exists just because it keeps the more terrible elements of the fan service contained and away from the main releases. A few points. What I hope many of you realize is that technically none of us outside of Japan should even have been watching Heroes. It was supposed to be Japan only because Heroes is pretty much, only in Japan. Being a promo anime, I already was aware of the time length and several other things. First and foremost, this is literally a marketing project. It's designed to promote the game so expecting some crazy good story or Shida style animation every episode is not going to happen. It's going to have great, consistent and polished art (a strong point of Yamamuro) but very limited animation because it's such a small project. Danny mentioned others who may not like Yamamuros style nowadays, but some of us still do. He's a competent artist, and he is one of the few who can draw DB both fast and well. While they're many things that they could of done, such as allocate more time to Ssj4 vs blue as Danny mentioned, I'm really not too upset about it because it's really not that important to the main DB core. I'll continue to watch it (even though technically we shouldn't even be able to, but VPNs these days lol) simply because I love seeing Yamamuro's art and I personally think the music by Yuya Mori is the best part about the episodes.

You got it. I have not seen other people make this point even though it's so obvious. This promo anime was designed and marketed specifically for the Japanese market. If the Internet is not what it is today, none of us would even have a chance to watch it. The problem is a great majority of the people watching it have zero idea what the hell it is. I being one of them. I'm in the 40s, having grown up with Dragon Ball. I don't really keep with new stuff other than watching DBS, family and career and shit takes priority, I didn't know what Dragon Ball Heroes is, but the promo anime did get me to do a lot of research into it, led me to Geekdom101, and I educated myself on what exactly am I watching. Unfortunately, most of the viewers ended up watching somethjng that was simply not produced for them, one of the prerequisite being that you have to play Heroes or know what it is. To me these anime promo are no different than those other animated Heroes trailer for each mission. They are fun to watch, and that's all they are intended for. You end up having people commenting and judging this completely out of context.

Max555 that's why they either felt like they don't watch it because of the timeframe for each episode (example, Super Saiyan 4 Xeno Goku vs Super Saiyan Blue Goku (Super) battle was short), which I already know that this series an promotional anime (tied with Dragon Ball Heroes, similar like Pokémon) not an actual anime series that has extended episodes like can go up to 50, 100, 200, or more. So my opinion is that I think that Super Dragon Ball Heroes is going to be having 10 episodes of the Planet Prison arc and I that's about it. Since it's a promotional anime after all.

I like cumber more than broly, felt like he should have been the villain for the new movie. Like the first details we got for the movie was that the villain was an ancient saiyan, and when goku went super saiyan god, cumber recognized it, how awesome would a story like that be, flash back cumber vs yamoshi, cumber is defeated but survives, he's in a coma or frozen and years pass and he resurfaces, goku and vegeta are about to be killed then yamoshi's spirit appears in both their minds and he gives them the true super saiyan god power. It be cool if cumber is the exact opposite of a super saiyan god, kinda like the sith are the exact opposite of the jedi. Keep up the good work geekdom, looking forward to more videos!

Two things: 1. As Geekdom mentioned, most people including myself have very little knowledge of the story with heroes; we have no backstory. If you present a GREAT movie to someone, but have them start it in the middle or the climax of the movie, the audience is not going to be able to see and realize the potential greatness of the production. Backstory is HUGE. 2. As I saw someone else somewhat mention, heroes really has little to no rules as far as continuity goes. I think the "anything goes" aspect of it can take away from it.

Here’s where I’m at with the PR Anime: I’m a bit mid way. While I do like the ideas of where they are going with, I feel as though regardless of whether it previously happened in Super or not, it just looks stiff and some shots are just weird. With Yamamoro doing all the work and all the stiffness is being shown, it’s becoming more harder to ignore. And I feel that it’s more Saiyan centric than the manga as in the manga, they actually have Cooler do something, villains coming back, seeing Ozatto (might spell it wrong) more, Trunks doing more, and it has Oolong (my preference). So yeah, I can prefer the manga over the anime for sure, but it can still be improved.

Tbh I love the Heroes anime. It’s brought back my favorite movie villain, Cooler, as well as my favorite Saiyan transformation, SS4. I mean the story isn’t the best executed, but the concept is really cool. Fu is an interesting character and I’m glad he’s in it. I mean it’s not a perfect series, but it’s a really cool as a side story OVA.

They dropped the ball in the 1st episode, I didn’t care if it was short but it didn’t feel satisfying. I watched anime shorts before some done well some I put to the back burner after the 1st episode. They should cut out the theme song because it feels like a filler in between the actual episode. I started getting into it a bit more because of the later episodes but honestly this should be increased to 15 minutes 20 max I think with an anime like Dragon ball it definitely could be better with that length of time.

Since that game runs on the Budokai Engine (not the real name, but that’s what we all know it as) I think instead of a mini series/ promotional anime with little to no substance. I think a good move would have been to make a another Dragon Ball Hero’s game. But make it pretty much a Budokai 4 fighting game. (unless you count infinite world as Budokai 4 then Budokai 5 in that case) So many fans love that game, including my self. And since you have these fan service characters and scenarios. Like Ssj4 Vegito, the prison arc, etc. I think fans would love a fun game like that with all these cool ideas and story’s. In a Budokai 3 type game. The Community would love it and people who have nostalgia for that game would buy it... idk I just think that would have been a good move to get people into DBH. Ever consider that because most people don't know the game or game's history, they don't fully understand the anime? You're judging the show without knowing the game it's promoting. The manga gets more time to go into detail while the anime is a commercial (has to be short to stay on budget), plus we don't get any other form of promotion here like the cards or toys...you gotta look at the total promotion for effectiveness and not this 1 aspect

If DBH had the same run time as robot chicken of 15 mins or 16 mins would be good. The first episode was okay. The only good thing to come out of it is the return of SSJ4. I think we can always give it a chance if they were to add 8 more mins to it and explore the characters instead. But i would've have focused on the Time Patrollers, Fu, Cumber, Golden Cooler, Ozotto & Cell X instead.

What i absolutely love about Heroes is how it fills in the blanks Gotenks could go ss3 despite Trunks and Goten only being able to access Ss1. That means Vegito and Gogeta should also be capable of SS2 and SS3, but we never saw that.. Heroes has showcased SS2 and SS3 for Vegito atleast.. and hell even SS4 now. Furthermore we also have artwork for Vegito Blue using Kaioken.

Tbh DBH is just a bunch of random fanservice and is completely self-aware of that fact, I think folks lost track of their expectations for a promo anime about a JP only card/arcade game!. My only gripe is Toei not expanding on the awesome concepts/ideas in DBH that could easily be reworked and expanded on in the main continuity; Demon realm, new fusions, new outfits etc.

He didnt animate, he only fixes up the artstyle, the reason it is stiff is because of yukihiro kitano, the worst animator of DBS, he was a supervisor until the ToP, than he got demoted, but he was responsible for episode 67 and 24, one of the worst in the series. and to be fair, Yamamuro´s board just sucks, like it has no interesting shots, his board is terrible, but he doesnt do the animation, he only fixes up Kitanos terrible art.

I feel what most people wanted was a mini series spin off with the usual length of an anime episode. Like a 13 episode series to promote the game. Instead what we got is a sub par almost commercial like series with very short episodes. And usually i would forgive this. A small episode of Dragon Ball that's basically all fan service all the time BUT the series itself looks bad. The art is basically the same as it was in Supers universe 6 arc and the story isn't very compelling either. I feel like if every episode was animated with top notch animators, which really shouldn't be too hard to do for a very small episode, then more people would give this a chance. But I'd honestly rather watch the actual Heroes commercials than watch the anime.

You've met me and I've told you that I liked the SDBH manga, not the anime as much, but the manga definitely. SDBH for me isn't just some fan-made story. For me, it's a story that's occurring in another timeline and when you think of it like that, it won't contradict the main timeline. In any case, I don't like to think of things as "canon" or "non-canon". I take in all of the DB verse and try to enjoy it. I wish more people would do it that way.

No plot. No emotional connection. Tries to sell you on character designs instead of actual characters. Everything that's wrong with Heroes is the same as what is wrong with SSJBlue. It's SSJRed, but they spiked the hair up, painted blue, and pretended it was different transformation in order to capitalize on the marketability of SSJ1 -- the one area I agree with MasakoX on in that regard. It doesn't work because there's no emotional significance and when the transformation succeeds at some, it's contrived. *Our emotions exist in order to tell us whether or not something is valuable.* If you can't play on people's emotions, it would sell to it's full potential. SSJRed feels stronger even through we're supposed to beileve it's weaker because every time we see SSJRed, an image of the first time we saw it unconsciously flashes through our minds: Videl and all the other saiayns coming together to create the savior of the planet and Goku fighting Beerus even though he had no hope of winning. When we see Blue, there's just nothing. The events that were supposed to explain what the significance of the form didn't even appear on screen. Even though it resembles SSJRed and SSJ1, it's presented to us as something else, lessening the value of both. As a result, Blue tries very hard to mean something but ultimately fails. I like Blue. I think it looks cool. I think it could play off of Red very effectively like how Toyotarou had Goku rapidly shift between the two forms in order to play to their respective strengths, but playing the form the way it's being used right now is nothing short of abuse and it isn't fooling anyone in the audience. 身勝手の極意 is on a completely different level because it combines SSJRed, SSJBlue -- hence the purple-ish aura -- SSJ1 -- giving the hair a metallic look -- *and* Goku's base form -- hence the hairstyle -- *and* the synthesis actually works because it was executed so well. Red, Blue, Black, and Yellow all at the same time.

Dragon Ball Heroes reminds me of video game animations, where it’s short and boring, but since there’s no new episodes, it’s better than nothing. The idea of heroes is great: less plot, more fighting, more characters, more fun. How awesome would it be to get a series where it’s almost like WWF, and just chaos- brawls, specials and team combos changing tides of the battle, counters, power ups, just mayhem of punches and fireballs. That would satisfy people that watch video game streamers rooting they win, fighting sports, fake wrestling, etc.. Kind of like the tournament of power if the creators had a lot of vodka redbull, and was more daring and didn’t care to write a story but focus on answering the question: “you know what would be cool”. E.g. If three different Goku did a simultaneous kamehameha on a majin vegeta blue. I don’t care if the whole episode is just a giant beam struggle, that would be bad ass

I feel like they should have simply adapted the Victory Mission Manga. They totally could have kept the episodes as short as they did. The story itself had me and my friends love Heroes for what it was at the time, and the Avatar characters captured our interest because they had added intriguing personalities for a Dragon Ball spin-off. They made something out of nothing, essentially. If they had used the Victory Mission Manga, I feel like it would have been just as effective, if not more.

If the release schedule was more consistent and frequent i probably would have kept watching it, when you keep me waiting a month for literally like 7 minutes of actual content im not gonna keep up with it and eventually lose interest which is what happened to me.

The biggest mistake was making the goku vs xeno goku fight like 1 minute AND it was super underwhelming. After that people just assumed the whole series would be underwhelming Edit - holy shit that's what he said! Gj Big D!

I feel like the point where they stopped caring about Beat, is when I stopped caring. Heros was supposed to be Beat’s story, not another goku story (at least in my opinion...)

I watch it and I take it for what it is. Even if not great, I think we're getting fun 8-9 minutes episodes. To be, the biggest problem is not only such short episodes but also the time that goes by between each episode. I tend to forget about it until I see that Geekdom101 has the ep review up lol

Heroes just needs to be localized and expanded upon in the west. It’s fan service. Like, DREAM FAN SERVICE lol. I personally don’t take the logistics of it very seriously. As a fan, I’d just love the opportunity just to see those fantasy scenarios and arcs.

I think not only was it lack luster and the Goku vs Goku fight was completely non climactic but the fact that we can’t play the game is a big issue. I think they may have been using the episodes similar to a commercial where in Japan it’s a tidbit of the game in anime form. Some what of a ongoing commercial to keep the players interested in playing more as is. Since we don’t have that opportunity to play the game it’s not nearly as relevant to Americans as it might be in japan.

If they just gave us a mobile version of the game like they did with dokkan battle or legends, alot of these issues might be mitigated, but the fact that they don't even want to give us anything to go on to tie into the show's context makes it really impossible to care about it. At this point dragon ball heroes for anyone not in japan is the dragon ball equivalent of something you literally just have to turn your brain off and maybe you might enjoy it, but probably not.

I’m just treating heroes as a “what if” spinoff of the other anime series... it’s just a fun thing. I don’t think we can have the same expectations for a promotional anime as we do for the main anime series. It is lame that we can’t play the game it promotes, though (in USA etc.)

Short episodes are one thing but there's something worse - the schedule of this thing. It comes out whenever it wants and trying to keep up with it is honestly annoying. If it came out weekly or even every two weeks, then perhaps I'd care about it - but there's NO logical schedule for this thing AT ALL. Why should I care (or remember) what happened in an extremely short episode one or two months ago?

If it gets localized, it wouldn’t really help me. It’d probably come to Dave & Busters, which, the nearest one is over an hour away from me. However, it’s apparently being ported to Switch. If that comes stateside, that’d be awesome. I really hate that Golden Cooler hasn’t done anything.

If arcade version doesn't get localized, they should at least release hand held version of the game globally. Just English text, no need to redub or it will take like 5 years or so (just like dragon Ball fusions)

I'll watch it, and it's good. However I'm not gonna invest much more then interested in a show that has a 8 minute run time. I wish they did a 12 episode seasonal anime over what they did. I'd like it a lot more, or dislike it.I didn't expect much explaination with a 8 minute run time. Which is about same as some shows take in openings/extros alone. I like it more then Super cause it's advertised as FANSERVICE for it's own sake. Super just started to feel like let's cater to fans so it makes more $$$.

They should have done it like Gundam Battlouge. One 10-15 min episode a month and was decently animated. It was also released for free on KZbin.

pretty sums up the reason why i drop the anime, so unless there's something good happen i won't even continue to watch it for a long time. i mean i gave super the same treatment when it began it's run, and it wasn't until future trunks arc that i started to give it a chance again which's how i loved super to began with. so who knows if the heroes anime became good or not until at least the first arc (or the anime) ended to see if it's worth it to continue watching it or not.
