At least the great S s Deadly Bomber and the "you're finished!" voiceline are still excellent. All of those graphics and enhancements and yet decades ago it was more complete, smooth and natural. It's almost like they aren't possible although this game is the new one.

And they definitely don't beat a game, despite the fact that it shouldn't be like this considering this is the next one, like BT3 which sports something like Future Gohan's finisher, and this isn't even citing other big specials like Ultimate Gohan's, Broly's, Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta's, Super Gogeta's, Final Form Cooler's, Turles's besides Super Android 13's one. Super Saiyan Trunks and Super Vegeta's aren't well done either, they don't do them justice.

I blame it on the "Live" cinematic supers as I've said before. In BT3/RB, he'd have thrown the opponent, and they'd teleport to a specific part of the stage after a cut so the animation can play out exactly the same each time, allowing for grander animations not hindered by terrain. Also he does have a move they could've used for a Rush. Remember, BT3 SS Deadly Hammer was a mix of the beating he gave Goku, and the slam into Blast he gave Vegeta. RB decided to be more accurate to the first part, ending with a Deadly Bomber, so the latter part is free to be its own move.

This exactly. It's the reason I believe ultimates like A18 and Ultimate Gohan's took out the knockdown to the ground part. It was a lot worse for Ultimate Gohan's Burst Rush than for A18, who still has a good ultimate, but the live cinematic so it can play out anywhere definitely seems to have caused some moves to not behave the same. Dabura's ultimate even we can see this with since he now flies upwards instead of downwards. Granted that's maybe more accurate since he flew up to the Z-fighters to kill Kibito but it seems to support the trend. Granted, there are moves that directly set the opponent to the ground like SSJ Melee Trunk's Heat Dome Attack and SSJ Future Gohan's rush still slams the opponent to the ground.

one of the biggest mistakes that the designers made in this game was getting rid of the 'teleport to mid stage for certain rushes and ultimates' thing that BT3 did. it really allowed them to go nuts with things, how can you have them slam the character into the ground if the attack hits in the air? you can't unless you bring them to the ground. but they don't for some reason.

While the change to him firing an SS deadly bomber after the running beat down is accurate to what he did to goku I miss the ending slam and blast he did to vegeta. They should have turned that into a grab super to replace his super explosive wave when they took it out of the ult. They could’ve had his nut punch as a unique grab with goku. It’s sad seeing my absolute favorite character in a lesser form this time around. Garlic Jr and Bojack’s ults getting improved helped make up for it on team movie villains at least.

It's hard to see because of the camera angle/position, but Super 13's throw almost looked like that moment when he punched Goku in the crotch in the movie. If it wasn't, I wish they made a unique throw of him doing that to Mid-Z SSJ Goku.

On the super 13 special, the real problem is. That it looks weak in comparison to the infamous BT3 version where it looks like the target is bouncing after getting hit before the blast attack. It looks the weight and brutality for something more slick and quick.

Base 13: Sparkling Transformed 13: Honestly the SS bomber used to be comically large and fun to use. It’s a shame the size is reduced here but I won’t count this against the game as it was cancer to play against. In BT3 his ult is in Omega’s top 10 but they really butchered it here. BT3 > Sparkling

That dumbed down Ultimate is because they changed the last part to a new Counter, which ACTUALLY, woulda been correct to add to him as a Rush. It's one of those things were Devs probably looked over at a glance and didn't realize why the change was made in the first place. Overall, 13 is ok. Gameplay wise...ok, can we talk about that dumb pause he does in his rush? It's supposed to catch people blocking into a gap but all it does is get you perception countered lol. And even though his SEW can be buffered into an unblockable, since he is an Android, it makes him a sitting duck afterwards. He feels bad to play and worse to transform. At least his Ultimate when buffered is 100% uncounterable.

If he never gets any buffs, changes or anything, that's ok, though a little dissapointing since he doesn't really need big changes to amp up his gameplay.

2:54 I'd blame this on the animation to a degree but with minor tweaks it would be just right. It's almost there. I think the problem is just how weird they are about combining references. In BT3, the Ultimate took from multiple scenes of him throttling the Dragon Team and ended on the most painful one with how he dealt with Vegeta. Here, they seem to only be pulling a bit from that and mainly focusing on how he beat Goku which results in a more lackluster attack. It's bizarre especially because Nail's Ultimate takes multiple scenes and splices them together so I don't know why they wouldn't do the same here.

RB takes the part of Vegeta as a new Counter Super, 13 gets beat a bit and then grabs the target into a Grab before he slams them into the ground with the blast. The change was made to allow Super 13 access to a Counter Super since he REALLY needed something else that didn't put him at 0 Ki in RB. In this game, Super 13 is mostly a sitting duck after a SEW. Devs missed the part of that change, so Super 13 has a lame ultimate and weird balance in regards to how he can use his Ki, especially after the patch changed how SS Bomber moves.

It also helps that RB I think did a good job with always making sure whatever it added or replaced was good in its own right. Also, RB made the right call in keeping the run and beatdown from that and it has that great shot of the explosion. Here it just feels limp.

@@NinjaXFiles That's the thing about it. It's not that it completely sucks but it's more just underwhelming which is worse I'd say. Especially when you compare it to his similar move from RB where it's not the BT3 Ultimate but good in its own right thanks to great pacing, animation, some cool shots and the knowledge they do have the slam, just now as a Counter Super to be faithful to the movie which means nothing feels like it's missing. Frankly, the S.S. Deadly Bomber from his base form sucks more because of how it's not an Ultimate, it's just a glorified Super.

I'm gonna be the odd man out and say that I actually prefer when the ultimate don't have a scene attached to them. For the really special ones, like the father-son Kamehameha, or the Super Spirit Bomb, it works. But in Raging Blast so many of them just had this generic split-screen effect that didn't do anything for me. It interrupts the flow of the gameplay in a way that just having them get hit normally, with maybe an explosive impact at most, doesn't.

Yeah. The explosive impact and screen shake / fade to white was always incredibly satisfying regardless of how stock the move was, the split screen has it's place for some particularly devastating ultimates but it's overused here

I understand the take but for personally, I feel the scenes to a degree help to make the Ultimate feel at least more devastating which is what an Ultimate should feel like. RB2 is a perfect example where they did away with the split-screen effect, instead going with this awesome shot where we see the opponent from the front reacting with shock before they get swallowed by the beam, usually with a shot afterward showing just how massive the blast is. Plus there was the thing in BT3 where blasts without scenes often just felt more devastating thanks to the effects added. SZ has a problem of making Ultimates with no scenes just feel like Supers.

SS Deadly Bomber was one of the ones that had a unique on hit animation in RB2, with the target running from the ball tracking them before turning around to catch it only for it to blow up. Accurate to the film, and just a cool animation as well.
