Insane that Trunks' Rage form (the hair of which they screwed up) has to pull triple-duty as his DBS-era SSJ1/2 forms, while Kefla gets *both* SSJ1 and 2 even though her forms are visually identical *and* she jumped to 2 in her fight with Goku almost immediately. This game has some seriously weird priorities with who got what.

Sparking Zero and really the Sparking/BT series in general has a lot of characters who if we're being honest don't really do anything notable but they're there because they're known for being all about insanely large rosters and sandboxes to play in. To be so complete with Cabba but then to not give some other characters their more notable transformations is bizarre.

It makes sense but it's still weird that a form that did primarily physical fighting doesn't get any moves like that and just gets two energy balls and a big explosion, especially since nothing about the explosive wave really conveys that he's just unleashing power. Perhaps if it started with say his muscles pulsing like they do when he transforms into this state it'd be neat but still.

Super Saiyan Rage was an anime exclusive thing and it was presented at much later stage of the arc (his first fights with Black were on SSJ2). ALSO In the manga Trunks was on SSJ2 during the entire arc. Yet SSJ2 got zero screen time on game and we got this... hybrid form (isn't SSJR supposed to be a bit bulkier too?)

Because Sword users, as well as some other characters, have unique charged Ki Blasts with different propertys. Gonu Black even uses his scythe for his! Many problems with my favourite characters, Trunks. Trunks (sword) base form should have Burning Attack instead of Finish Buster. Super Saiyan is okay. Trunks (melee) base form should have Masenko instead of the generic rush. Super Saiyan is okay. Then Super Trunks should have some kind of powerful rush instead of the generic Super Explosive Wave. The worst situation here is with Future Trunks from DB Super. Why do they gave him just Super Saiyan, when he also got Super Saiyan 2 and Rage on the show? It should have been: Base form: same moveset as the game Super Saiyan: Masenko, Lighting Sword, Final Flash Super Saiyan 2: Galick Gun, Final Flash, Father-Son Galick Gun (they used it on Zamasu) Super Saiyan Rage: Galick Gun, Final Flash, Sword of Hope

As someone whose favorite Dragon Ball character is Future Trunks, seeing him in this game is rough. Sword Trunks is mostly solid, but the BT3 appeal of his barrage SSJ Volley still being blue after his transformation is gone, even though there's no doubt it was just a product of reused assets at the time, so I wish it had been replaced by something else like a rush, maybe you could have given him DBS Trunks' ultimate as a rush since he does do something similar to Android 14. Lightning Sword Slash is a bit of a weird move but I'm glad he's kept it. Armor Trunks is... Oh god. Base kind of has nothing to work here, all he's got is half a Tien fight in the Bojack movie. SSJ is solid but the "2 moves per character only" really hurts him, Change the Future and Another End are sorely missed. And Ultra Trunks... Somehow still has the same garbage moveset after 17 years. Come on, there are things they could have pulled from his fight against Cell. The flurry of punches followed into a beam and the point blank ki barrage come to mind. Make up something cool for the ultimate and we're golden. Everyone knows DBS Trunks' problem, giving him only Base and a weird amalgamation of his SSJ and Rage forms not only is a bizarre choice, but it severely hurts his move pool (ironically making him have the same issue as his Dad in his blue form). Base Trunks is fine as is, SSJ1 Trunks doesn't have a lot but you could give him like, the boomerang sword throw he does against Black? It's a weird move but I struggle to think of something else, maybe the dual masenko from Xenoverse 2? For the ultimate, give him his Zamasu beatdown into Final Flash. Give SSJ2 the weird sword vault he did against Black in the manga and combine it with the blast he used to escape. Since Rage Trunks HAS to have Sword of Hope, I'd give SSJ2 Trunks the Father Son Galick Gun instead. The Tenkaichi series has previously allocated moves to forms that didn't have them (SSJ3 GT Goku's Dragon Fist comes to mind) and it would serve as a nice parallel to Teen Gohan. Then Rage Trunks gets to have either the Masenko or the Galick Gun and the rush he does against Black in the fight near Zamasu's cabin (this one funnily enough also involves Trunks throwing his sword, though having this rush would make him having Galick Gun redundant) and tops it off with the Sword of Hope/Final Hope Slash.

First and foremost. I hate the way they distinguish the names. "Future Trunks" and "Trunks (Sword)" are accurate for both of them. Also, what I expected was for Super and Z Trunks to be the same character like how they did Gohan. Just have different outfits. Make four forms. Base and SS can focus on Z, and then make a SS2 and Akari form for Super. But it looks like they're trying to make everyone forget SS Akari was ever a thing. Believe me, I understand. On a side note: I have noticed a significant improvement in your audio levels recently.

My biggest problem with Trunks is honestly the move redundancy. Both Super Trunks and his SSj DBS version have two identical supers that only serve to remove options. What sucks is that with this last patch, they actually fixed both Super Vegito and Goku (Mini) who also had redudant supers. Vegito's Final Kamehameha is now a very powerful 4-bar super and Goku's Quick Rush follows the target in exchange for doing less damage then his straight rush. Why they fixed those two but left Trunks untouched I will never know.

About the burning attack into cuts. You probably are able to actually use it like that! On sparking mode you can do normal blasts and then an ultimate. I say probably because I'm not sure if you are fast enough to catch someone dodging the burning attack

@@ColdnFox Final Form Freeza technically did. It was "You Might Die This Time!" where he threw rocks at an opponent and it goes to a cinematic where he teleports behind them and encases them in a ball... which funnily enough was just made a standard rush in Sparking Zero.

Base Z Sword Trunks' ult should just work entirely different. IMO only the user should be stuck in a cutscene after the first slash. Afterwards the enemy should be able to be fly around and dodge as with every slash, another attack comes out of that ki ball. And if all hit, you get the final cutscene. Regardless, it is such a weird move. And it gets only worse when it turns into a super, because it takes so long and is so spammable. Also, on an unrelated note, that glow staying around when you make the combos longer sure doesn't look great. Hope it gets patched out sooner than later.

Trunks is in a weird state where I feel he is the closest to how a SZ character should be but then I also feel he should be SO much better than he is.. He is fine in almost all of his movesets and, gameplay wise, he is strong. Like, outside of Melee Trunks who got nerfed into OBLIVION, like goddamn, the only thing he sort of has is Wild Sense and even then, sheesh. Note, remember how Blue Vegeta has Blue Evolution as a Ultra Lategame Install? Yeah, instead of Vegeta having it, it should be Trunks and it should be his Sparking Install too. This is the one time that Form(SSJ Rage) could be an Install and be correct instead of Vegeta having it. Aside from that...god, I hate his stupid Sword Super lol. Takes a billion years to come out and it has a strange Hitbox. I swear I get hit by it more than I should.

Surly they could've pulled something from his fight with Cell to make a good rush and ultimate, or even just make something up if you have to. Trunks is... kind of the most representative of the mixed bag the game is moveset-wise. Some stuff is cool, some stuff is very rushed, some stuff is... really dragged out and there's content that's just straight-up missing. Lightning Sword Slash for example goes from being a neat volley to being an attack that's visually cool but there's just so much time spent on the build-up it goes from cool to feeling like padding. There's also DBS Trunks just straight-up missing his transformations with them compromising by giving Super Saiyan a hint of the Super Saiyan Rage aura. Hell in that case, it demonstrates exactly WHY it was so dumb to split the Z and DBS characters up. It means everything's so limited in what they can add when I'd think if you're not gonna have customizable movesets, having a bigger move pool to pick from would lead to more variety.

I find it kind of weird that DBS Trunks's base form is one of the best versions of Trunks in the game, and DBS Trunks's Super Saiyan form is one of the laziest. That first ult is such a drawn out mess. Definitely up there for my least favorite ult in the game it’s just so odd. It’s even worse as a super because it’s still too much but now it’s spammable.

Using sword for regular melee is lame as fuck because it breaks the illusion that the sword is meant for killing blows The base ultimate sword Ki attack is cool and creative as fuck so I also disagree with you there.

@ I agree with you but it ruins my imagination adaptation of the fight in my mind’s eye as I play. If trunks gets a hit in with his sword, the enemy wouldn’t just brush it off. It ruins it for me. Maybe this is just a me problem.

@@TheTalyn08 I'd say it is. Not a ridiculous one though. I mean I remember there was a period playing Star Wars games for me where I wished a lightsaber could just cut things and not be just a glowing baseball bat.

Lightning Sword Slash is not that complicated. He's sending a an energy slash every time he slices that ki blast. The final camera angle is showing all the slashes that he sliced through.

The thing is, it's not conveyed by the animation that well. It just looks like Trunks made a Ki ball, is cutting into it to cover his sword with energy and then he just swings it at the opponent like he's swinging off blood and then suddenly all the slashes show up. It especially doesn't help that BT3 kind of did the idea better by having him make the Ki ball and then showing him swinging and making basically a slash-based volley.

NGL, throwing an energy ball and slashing it into a million pieces makes more sense than energy slashes randomly coming out of the sword. I am as confused on how it succeeded as you are though, energy would usually destroy the metal.

Honestly, they should've just had him shown to be channeling the Ki into his sword instead of this set-up process. It would've been cooler and would've better conveyed what he's doing.

Im glad Future Trunks just has base and SS with the blue aura. Ss2 and rage dont add anything interedting to his moveset at all, i prefer that work goes to other characters, even joke or random ones like Cui or Anilaza or Ribrianne's squad.
