Gohans ki blast exploded next to him because this game implements a system where you can use explosions as cover and catch the enemy by surprise. And it's amazing! Gohans attack has that diversion effect so you can either use it to retreat or surprise attack.

There's almost no chance of costumes changing Supers. Characters variations are confirmed, so there'd be no point to that sort of mechanic. Piccolo is likely just only Piccolo. He's not labelled as Z, Super, or anything. (Yes, this means Yellow and Orange Piccolo are likely DLC). 17, however, is 99.99% a variant. He's currently labelled as Super on the website, and we see his Super version using Super Electric Strike, which is always an Ultimate, while the one we saw here used Sadistic Dance, his BT3 ult.

Hopefully, it’s like RB and team attacks only happen when the characters are on the same team and they just don’t come out of nowhere. Like with fusion. Absorption gets a pass since go looking for the target first.

Gotham’s attack blowing up is likely just for dramatic effect like how in the anime dust clouds would get exponentially bigger towards the end of a volley

I suspect #17's Z form just hasn't been officially confirmed yet; on the official website, it says "#17 (Super)", which means there must be a non-Super version (as opposed to his Z outfit in the trailer merely being a costume). For Piccolo though... I'm not sure what to think since the website only says "Piccolo". It makes even less sense than Tenkaichi 3 not to have more than one, especially with his Potential Unleashed/Orange/Giant forms in the mix.

I've been suspecting for some time that the reason Piccolo is just "Piccolo" is because he transforms now. We know that this Piccolo we have seen has Explosive Breath Cannon as a super and Special Beam Cannon as an ultimate which clearly means he is based on Piccolo (Early). With that in mind, they might simply have Piccolo transform with some short cutscene like when Cell transforms, changing from Piccolo to Piccolo - Fused with Kami.

I agree with you about Z Counter. As satisfying as it is to pull off, the game having a universal "stop your opponent's combo whenever you want" mechanic was pretty toxic. Maybe they could make it cost a stock or something.

Thing is, it's not game systems or mechanics that sell games like this, it's the graphics and the roster. They will eventually show off more of how the game plays, but it won't be their main focus because most people just wanna know if Toppo or whoever is gonna be in it.

Ironically this trailer made me feel better about the game then the last trailer that made me feel VERY skeptical. One scene in particular made me feel excited and that was Gohan dodging all the attacks from videl. Ive recently been playing Sifu and i hope that dodging takes more skill than just pressing a button once. Also i hope they take from Raging blast and you can pick super attacks and your outfits. Would also be nice if like in Raging blast 1 you can actually SEE which outfit youre picking before picking it. I dont wanna have to keep a note pad saying which outfit is what at all times. (This is especially bad on characters like Goku who had like 6 outfits in Raging blast 2)

Maybe Gohan's attack blew up because the game's still really really deep into bug fixing and last stages of development. So this might mean we're still ways off from it, which is why we're not seeing the actual game.

I was thinking the effect was due to Gohan releasing some sort of pressure wave after he was done, and the pressure wave interacted with the ground, kicking up dust and debris.

I would like to say that they did reveal DBS 17 already in the first trailer, so I'm certain he will have his character slot, and his Z form will also have its slot. For Piccolo, I expect there to be two versions of him. His early Z counterpart would only go as far as the Saiyan saga, and then another version would cover the rest of Z along with his other transformations from Super.

I still think this game is actually in an early development stage. They're probably focusing on the core gameplay as it still has larger issues. The game modes will come later. Also they stated not all models are done. They might do the story later as it has even higher requirements for graphics and animation

Something I noticed about the transformation to ssj it’s pretty much one to one each character. So im wondering if maybe you can pre-select the transformations so if you do want Goku to go ssj to god you set that character as a transformation. If they blend in together the only issue I count see is if the costumes don’t match. I do prefer the idea to choose move sets over characters being separate but I can dream.
