The morality purge you mentioned is what actually happened with Kami and King Piccolo way back even before the original Dragon Ball. Kami was tained by the evil of humanity and so he couldn't become the guardian of earth. Kami then purged all the evil from himself and thus King Piccolo was made.

Zamasu's conversation with his Master is the most character depth any DB villain ever got. Up until now all Dragon Villains were just evil, and while that's ok pure evil can be done great if done right (Freiza) but to see a different kind of villain is very refreshing, one that is self righteousness taken to extreme. There is another in the manga, a vengeful misguide character type. But not been animated yet (It's been 6 f**king years WHENNN)

Zamasu’s eyes changed when he realized that the views he believed in were not shared by his teacher, Gowasu. He believes that mortals are inherently evil and bad for the multiverse, and therefore must be extinguished. Gowasu believes that mortals are inherently good, and given enough time and guidance, they can be led and choose to be good for the multiverse. Zamasu’s beliefs are partly out of vengeance, his so called divine justice, and when he explained them to Gowasu, you could hear his rage building in his voice, and the tea became clouded. That prompted Gowasu to question him further on the nature of good, evil, and divine justice. Once they finished their debate, and Zamasu realized that he would never convince Gowasu to change his ways, his eyes softened in realization. The tea became clear when Zamasu continued his thoughts, because he truly believes in them, and his heart comes from a pure perspective - if mortals destroy the world, and Gods don’t interfere, why should they live? Why can’t Zamasu intervene? So in his heart, his beliefs are pure, and therefore so was the tea. This doesn’t make him less bad, but it is enough to keep Gowasu from guessing his intentions.

17:25 Thats actually the story of Picolo and Kami loosely speaking. Before becoming guardian he needed to purge the negative aspects of himself and that became Picolo, before eventually refusing into one during Cell arc. Buu also had a moment of splitting into good and evil versions... so it makes sense to theorize this could be similar.

It's funny how you theorize that a troubled and conflicted Zamasu might split himself into a good and bad side that could then refuse into a new different being than the original when that's exactly what happened with Kami and Piccolo lol

Zamasus eyes twitching is most likely just showing how world shattering those 2 events are for Zamasu. The first is when he falls into a daze and kills a mortal for the first time. The second is when he sees that Master Gowasu and him have a gigantic fundemental disagreement. Gowasu sees evil as something necessary that informs good. Zamasu sees evil as something to be eradicated. When the tea is the cloudiest Zamasu simply doesn't understand what he isn't seeing. His master who he does have respect for let's mortals stain existence. He is angry, frustrated and confused. After Gowasu and him discuss evil, good and justice it becomes clear to Zamasu that his master simply fundementally doesn't understand the world (In Zamasus eyes). His eye twitches, he sees how flawed his master is and he becomes content, smiling as he lays out his believes. The tea clears and Zamasu's path is set. Zamasu has no more confusion or ill will in his heart. He understands what in his mind has to be done for the good of the cosmos.

This was the first time Zamasu killed someone at least this time/universe so he was shocked maybe even a bit guilty but after Goku beating him and constantley seeing mortals never truly improve and again being reafirmed with that he doubbles down on the belife that mortals over all are the evil and corruption eating away at the multiverse. Universe 10 must have a pretty shitty destoyer because they are supposed to take care of the worst offenders. Everyone is walking around egshells with Zeno because well you don't want your universe to be erased. Goku is lucky that Zeno likes him otherwise the story would have been a lot shorter. Well pure doesent necesaryily have to be good.

[SPOILERS] Universe 10's GoD is Rumsshi, the pink elephant dude. Considering his views that a tournament should be fought with one's body, and not one's mind, and told Gowasu to recruit all the biggest meatheads in their universe to fight for them, it's easy to see why he's a bit incompetent. Though apparently it's later revealed he just wasn't informed by Gowasu about Zamasu's actions. Which puts a strain on their relationship too as he feels embarrassed it was solved with another Universe's help. And considering they are the second eliminated, you can see how well his thinking works.

Also, remember the time Supreme Kai almost died during the Buu Saga when standing between Goku and Majin Vegeta at the tournament. Goku would have killed him to stop Vegeta. So Goku almost killed Beerus then.

My personal theory is that killing that Barbary creature flipped a switch in Zamasu. The Kais are bringers of life and order. Killing is not in their nature, which is why Shin (our Supreme Kai) enlisted Goku and company to fight against Babidi. He can't land the killing blow himself, even if its in service of his duties as a Kai, but he can find heroes to do the job for him. Actually taking a mortal life the way Zamasu did crossed a threshold Kais cannot come back from, that's why he appeared to be traumatized after the kill. He is out of balance and is no longer a force of creation.

Right now, I'm rewatching both Dragon Ball Super and Avatar: The Last Airbender with your reaction to see others point of view. But, The Split Personality that I was thinking about was from Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z with Kami and Piccolo. Because King Piccolo was seperated by Good Kami and Evil Piccolo until, Goku turned Piccolo Good. So, I just wanted to point that out. I wont spoil Dragon Ball Super cause I had already watched it. But, I'm just here for the reactions. Also, Majin Buu had a Split Personality as well from Evil Kid Buu to Good Majin Buu with Buu vs Buu at the end of Dragon Ball Z.

Zamasu’s reasons for hating mortals is pretty understandable, at least for his perspective. He’s a deity that’s only allowed create life and watch said life from a distance with little to no interaction. He’s been watching mortals from various planets, continuously making the same mistakes and bringing upon their own downfall(like how universe 6’s Earth met its end), for eons. I can’t blame him for loosing faith in mortals. My only problem with him is his solution to the problem, which is mass-genocide.
