Toyotaro can oversee toei, perhaps even closer than toriyama did toei, and hopefully they can give it the tybw treatment that kubo is doing- rewriting certain issues, contextualizing things better, and having crazy animation.

Since even GT finished airing years before I was even born, with all of supers flaws it's still really special to me. Getting to see new transformations revealed was crazy especially when watching the TOP where every episode was a completely unique plot.

One thing I don't like about super is Super Saiyan Blue form. It just throws all that Super Saiyan God offers out the window. The form itself is great but it being stronger than SSG was dumb IMO, it just contributes to the absurd power scaling that Super has. Instead they could've made SSG as sort of a 'target' that Goku and Vegeta train to achieve on their own, without any ritual.

I actually really agree with this. In the same way that they show Ultra Instinct as this thing that isn't easily mastered, they could have made it so that Goku and Vegeta have to try and control god ki and keep the form up. I think it would have made things a lot more impactful when we actually hit UI, too. If they showed off SSG as this incredibly difficult to maintain yet ultra powerful form, yet Goku was able to find something beyond that, it would have made an already great moment even greater! Love this comment.

I personally think Vegeta's second Final Atonement was actually pretty cool The first time, it was an amazing showcase of Vegeta's growth as a character I think the fact that he survives the second time shows that hes not just stronger physically, but emotionally and mentally. I like to believe that the reason he lived wasnt just because he was more durable but because his will to protect the people closest to him is much stronger now than it was before But i suppose its just a matter of perspective

I just. Ugh. As someone who has watched Dragonball since the 90s, its kinda hard for me to say but I'd rather watch Super than GT. And that's not easy to say, but i find it hard to get through GT even though it's significantly shorter. I will say i have grown to enjoy GT more now but i still don't rewatch very often, well as much as Super. At least Super tries, not hard enough though, to utilize other characters that aren't Goku and Vegeta. Again, i would agree others weren't used enough but i feel like they did more here than in GT.

Oh, 100%. I've grown to appreciate GT more over time, too. That said, it really lives up to the fan moniker of "Goku Time." They both have their own unique flaws so I always feel like having your preference between the two is completely fine. I enjoy Super more for the slightly richer character development and the higher highs when it comes to those exciting moments. GT, too often, feels like a slog to watch for me.

The fact that Base Goku was able to cut Hit and hold his own on Blue while Vegeta got whooped is sooo dumb. In the manga they that Vegeta used like 1/10th vs Cabba or something. Some antics it is.

Zamasu is a Temu Sensui and Jiren is a Temu Toguro. All the skinnier designs for Super fit One Piece way better, and not starting where Z ends makes it feel like nothing bad can happen since everyone is alive for that damn tournament. There’s so much wrong with this series it made me want to step into the grand tour, and there’s so much wrong with THAT series..

Lets be honest, even if we never got end of z, did really you think anyone was gonna die? Ik people dont like to admit it, but toriyama is alot like oda. He wont kill off main characters he likes, not for long at least, and not unless its really needed to drive the plot foreward(like gohan). No one died in the main timeliene of z. Gt, the only series which had permenant death of the main cast, was written by toei writers, toriyama only made designs. And I really hated that in gt, mostly becaus piccolo dying felt like a "heres this character we dont know what to do with, lets kill them off for the emotional moment and for le stakes" thing, which worked for a bit, but like he did almost nothing, with super we at least know hes almost as strong as goku and vegeta again, much like it z, and we finally get to see him fight side by side with gohan in 3 different arcs. As for the skinnier designs, I agree except for ssg, ssg being skinnier is a good design choice considering it actually has an impact in how goku fights, his mentality, and the divinity of the form. But yeah, other than that, ik its toriyamas new artstyle and all, but I appreciate toyotaro making them more jacked, especially black and vegeta

As I remember correctly, at the beginning of Super, Toei had big problems in producing anime adaptations of One Piece and Dragon Ball at that time (2015-2016). Both projects at that time had terrible animation quality and many people complained about how poorly everything was done. This was especially reflected in DB during the first meeting of Goku and Beerus when Goku started fighting his face became a meme for the fans. Therefore, fans were very unhappy because of this. Then all this was fixed and now Toei seriously corrected their mistake in the past and now in the ongoing they produce excellent episodes of One Piece in terms of production and animation. I never hated Super anime and didn't say that it was bad or trash, but I am also not a fan of super anime. I got acquainted with the franchise a year ago when I decided to marathon all the DB content for myself to finally find out what Dragon Ball is and I was surprised how seriously people do not like this anime. The only thing I spoiled for myself the first time was Super Saiyan Blue and Ultra Instinct (which are hard not to spoil because of KZbin, Tiktok and other things). My least favorite arc in Super (both anime and manga) is Goku Black. I can't praise it unfortunately, although it has quite interesting moments, but its implementation (especially in the anime) looked very bad and yes, for me, this is one of my least favorite arcs in DB franchise. Top is my favorite arc and one of my favourite arc in DB. Suspense, tension, the multiverse royal battle itself looked very cool. The last episodes are generally some of my favorites in the Dragon Ball in terms of tension and suspense, this was the best that Super anime gave us. The end of the Tournament of Power was great. When Jiren and Goku fought, it was hype and phenomenal, both in terms of animation and production and the plot itself. Despite the unpleasant emotions I got from the anime at start, I still like it, although I admit that it has enough shortcomings, I will not say that it is the worst anime that came out from Dragon Ball universe. Therefore, after a while, people want a continuation of the Super arcs that have already come out and want the super anime to return, this is understandable. (I am really looking forward for Daima, although I want Super to return soon that's would be great.) And thx for the review. It was really interesting to watch.

I'd still personally say that I enjoyed Super over GT, so I wouldn't put it at the lowest ranking. That said, they had a big gap between Z and Super to the point where they really should have had something special here. I can absolutely see an argument for Goku Black arc being the worst, funny enough. The frustrating moments in that arc are outrageous and really take away a lot of depth from some characters who already had it. If it wasn't for Trunks, I could easily see this being my worst, too. Like you mean to tell me that Vegito wouldn't have been able to even step up to Beerus, and the God forme was needed for that and Blue is the upgraded forme of God and then Kefla can just beat the shit out of Blue Goku with next to no effort? It might be a controversial thing but I think the worst thing that has happened in DBS was the introduction of the universe 6 saiyans. Like they are just absurd and make no sense. While there are a few aspects from both GT and Super i find 0 issue with Sadly while both have good in them,they are both just as bad as much good comes from them and that just hurts badly... As for what forms are the best from the two? Best forms: Super Saiyan 4,Golden Great Ape,Super Saiyan God And Ultra Instinct Blue evolved is in the middle ground with it promising yet leaving alot to be desired for. But the worst goes to: Super Saiyan Blue,Rosé and Rage.

Despite its flaws, I still enjoyed Super for what it is. There are a lot of things I would definitely change if I was in charge of the series such as the ending of the Goku Black arc, the usage of Goten, Trunks, and Majin Buu, and the entire Resurrection F arc, but overall I think Super is still a pretty good series, at least to me, especially since this series introduces me to the DB franchise.

Justin you cant really compare the fight and animation between a theatrical release and a series. Thats so unfair, obviously the movie is gonna be better. Battle of Gods was a good arc, its short they made the build up of beerus even better, the stakes was better, the buildup to ssg was better even tho obviously it had a longer run time, and the story is practically the same. The only difference is the slice of life in the beginning and the animation

I have to disagree. If the Tournament of Power showed us anything, it's that the series can very much have moments of beautiful animation and fights that I'd honestly say eclipsed anything we'd seen from the movie barring Super Broly. The issue here was time. Just look at Daima for an even better example. Each episode- each FRAME- has better quality than something like Resurrection F. I also laid out my points for the series and it's "expansion" of BoG and Resurrection F already. So I'll have to disagree there, too. I get absolutely nothing that changes anything in a meaningful or impactful way.

I think there's a misunderstanding here. In no regard do I believe Vegeta should have lost to Toppo. Besides the points you made, it would have effectively removed the episode of Vegeta's struggle against Jiren and we would have lost out on that character development. What I feel was deeply unnecessary was the transformation itself. Considering that Blue Evolution wasn't enough to stand up against Toppo on its own and it took a rage boost (not all that dissimilar from the "My Bulma" moment), I don't see why he couldn't have just continued on with blue and furthered along that transformation instead of moving on to the next one.
