I've always felt the same. That moment when he gets clobbered by both Goku and Frieza, and his pained expression shifts into a massive grin. It may just be my interpretation, but I always saw that as sort of the breaking point where Jiren was no longer fighting just to win, but for the satisfaction of winning.

When you think about it, Jiren was caught off guarded. It wasn't a fighting style; Goku and Frieza were hurling themselves at him wildly. You can see the surprise on his face. He couldn't really defend against that. It was kinda funny.

I feel like they wouldn't have been able to control Cell they way they did Frieza. Cell is much harder to kill and has the unlimited power potential of the Saiyans. Reviving Cell would've been a costly mistake.

There are two things that make this the absolute peak of Dragon Ball for me. At the start of the arc, I kind of rolled my eyes at them doing the villain redemption thing for literally the 10th time with Frieza. But they toe the line perfectly-he remains an evil bastard who would only help if he had absolutely no other option. So, they give him no other option. The second thing is that I’ve always considered Goku’s trust and naivety to be his biggest character flaw. When he lets Frieza live at the end of the Namek saga, his actions would have led to the death of everyone he knows and loves, if not for the unexpected arrival of Trunks. But that comes full circle here. No one else in the universe would keep their word to resurrect Frieza except Goku. And Frieza knows this. In a weird way, he has absolute trust in Goku’s integrity-enough to stake his life on it.

2 things I didn’t like about the dub 1. Why use the dub version of that song, when they did this the first time it got so much hate that after you heard it again they used the instrumentals instead. Why didn’t they just stick with that? 2. When Frieza threw Goku at Jiren why did the dub have Goku say “alley oop” he didn’t say anything in the sub. What was the point? It just came off goofy in a fight that had so much at stake.

Okay but seriously I think Jiren didn't regain all of his energy he just had enough leftover, around SSJ1 level. Which is why base frieza is enough since he is around ssj1 level and goku is tapping on and off ssj1. Android 17 also is pretty strong around SSJ Blue level but he is fatigued so that drops him to SSJ1 level

He didn't really regain any energy. They were all fighting off of sheer adrenaline and will power. Everyone was on their last reserves of power so they used everything at the end. It took Goku, Frieza AND #17 to actually get Jiren down which is still super impressive by Jiren. Just means he's tanky

@@Tayce_t androids don't get fatigued *edit for the thread thats probably why they won. 17 and 18 were never turned back into (mostly) regular humans. 17 was damaged, sure, but he still had just as much energy as he did when the tournament started.
